According to the <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/new-york\/ny-c-blu-drill-rapper-bronx-police-shooting-dropped-law-department-20220520-6eeixeeo4vhnlg4fnriv3rfhlq-story.html\">New York Daily News,<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>the 16-year-old won\u2019t face any charges in his connection to the January shooting involving a New York City Police Department officer after a judge determined the officer had no reason to approach him in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Law Department has determined that this case cannot be prosecuted,\u201d spokesperson Nicholas Paolucci said. \u201cBut let\u2019s be clear: Just because the city cannot prosecute doesn\u2019t mean this individual should have been carrying an illegal weapon \u2014 a weapon which contributed to both him and an officer being shot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NYPD officer and teen wounded when teen&#039;s gun goes off during struggle in Bronx\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nne3h8T162Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The case started to fall apart in March when\u00a0Bronx Supreme Court Justice Naita Sema transferred his case from adult court to family court. During a hearing over accusations of an \u201cunreliable\u201d and \u201cself-serving\u201d testimony of the encounter from the NYPD, Sema made it clear they illegally searched the teen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was absolutely zero reason for any of those officers to approach this individual,\u201d Judge Semaj said. \u201cThey approached him, they detained him, they searched him, and no officer even bothered to come up with a halfway legitimate reason for any of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>C Blu\u2019s attorney Dawn Florio \u2014 who previously represented 6ix9ine in his racketeering case \u2014 expressed similar sentiments following the judge\u2019s decision to drop the charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-1wxyvyl-0 grAgzi body-paragraph\">\u201cMayor Adams and the NYPD demonized my client in the press and accused him of shooting a police officer,\u201d Florio said. \u201cMy client is thrilled that \u2026 the matter will be closed and sealed, that all charges have been dropped. It has always been our position that it was the police, not my client, who caused that gun to go off, shooting my client and grazing an officer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>C Blu got into a scuffle with 27-year-old cop Kaseem Pennant on January 17.\u00a0Police said the struggle ensued after he refused to take his hands out of his pockets while being questioned by officers.
