Declan Kelly \u2014 who has pegged his return from exile on the horns of the GOAT \u2014 has a steep hill to climb to fully rehabilitate his image after his spectacular downfall as boss of public relations giant Teneo, people close to the PR whiz told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>The former Clinton fixer and adviser to Fortune 500 titans resigned as Teneo\u2019s CEO over sexual misconduct last year. <\/p>\n<p>He had gotten drunk at a VIP fund-raiser thrown by anti-poverty charity Global Citizen in Los Angeles on May 2, 2021, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/06\/24\/teneo-ceo-allegedly-kicked-off-global-citizen-board\/?_ga=2.132900302.114923461.1649035949-1865989932.1565816341\">and, according to sources, inappropriately touched as many as six employees\u00a0<\/a>at the star-filled gala.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly, 54, acknowledged the incident as an \u201cinadvertent, public and embarrassing mistake\u201d and added he \u201capologized to those directly affected, as well as [to] my colleagues and clients\u201d but he still left the firm he founded in 2011. <\/p>\n<p>He returned to his native Ireland for a few months and spent time with family, a source with knowledge told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe fled the country, he was so embarrassed about the Teneo ouster,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n<figure according to public filings. He has since returned to the US and last month made a splash with the announcement that seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady, the NFL\u2019s Greatest Of All Time, will join his nascent consulting firm as a partner.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bringing_in_Brady\"><\/span><strong>Bringing in Brady<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>People who know Kelly say they aren\u2019t surprised he would target someone with major star power like Brady to lead his comeback, given Kelly\u2019s playbook is to recruit eye-popping names to his firm.<\/p>\n<p>According to a source, Kelly emphasized his new business would focus on crypto \u2014 one of Brady\u2019s main interests. Brady and supermodel wife Gisele B\u00fcndchen\u00a0own a stake in crypto trading behemoth FTX; Brady also started NFT platform Autograph. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cKelly is the best at figuring out what people want to hear and exploiting it. He was even <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed Special Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland by Hillary Clinton in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The reason he\u2019s having to bring on athletes, the former workers added, is because he\u2019s alienated many of his longtime political allies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe pissed the Clintons off,\u201d a former Kelly confidante said. \u201cThey felt used and haven\u2019t spoken in years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton responded to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>His connections allowed him to charge unheard of fees in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Dow Chemical doled out millions, including a multi-million success fee one year when company CEO Andrew Liveris got three front page covers in the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne year, Declan put Andrew with Obama 13 times on stage\u2026 that\u2019s how you get those big fees,\u201d a source said.<\/p>\n<p>One PR industry expert told The Post: \u201cClients paid for pixie dust. I can see how Dow would value Bill Clinton getting [Liveris] a meeting but Tom Brady can\u2019t do that,\u201d <\/p>\n<p>What is shocking industry insiders \u2014 perhaps even more than a superstar quarterback coming on board \u2014 is that Kelly hasn\u2019t been sued by private equity firm CVC that bought his stake when he was dumped by Teneo.<\/p>\n<p>When he left, Kelly signed a non-compete clause that prohibited him from opening a firm too similar to Teneo, sources told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>Some sources note Kelly is cozy with CVC management. People close to CVC told The Post that Teneo\u2019s valuation was roughly $700 million.<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s unclear just why CVC has so far chosen not to pursue legal action against Kelly\u2019s new firm, some sources told The Post it could be an indication CVC and Kelly want to join forces down the line.<\/p>\n<p>CVC declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly has also added some of his top clients at Teneo to bolster the Consello team. Steve Mollenkopf, former chief executive officer at Qualcomm \u2014 a company that worked extensively with Teneo \u2014 is a partner at the firm, according to the company\u2019s site.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Kramer, former chief financial officer at Cisco \u2014 another longtime Kelly client \u2014 is a senior advisor.<\/p>\n<p>His old firm still maintains a powerhouse roster, including <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Electric and Coca Cola, but the company is struggling after Kelly\u2019s departure given most top dogs had a relationship with him and not the firm, sources add.<\/p>\n<p>Some people close to the company even speculate the consulting firm may not be able to survive much longer. Ursula Burns \u2014 the longtime Xerox CEO who took the helm after Kelly left \u2014 is \u201cchecked out,\u201d insiders say, and more focused on an upcoming move than bringing in more clients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe did a town hall meeting with staff who are concerned about departures of clients and fellow employees,\u201d a source told The Post. \u201cInstead of addressing the issues at hand she talked about her move to Florida and inability to get furniture due to supply chain,\u201d one source griped.<\/p>\n<p>A source familiar with Teneo\u2019s inner workings rejected those claims.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cUrsula doesn\u2019t do anything less than 100%.
