All The Inside Deets&#8230;<br \/>\n&#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" class=\"text\">\nYou know, we expected to hear about <strong>Johnny Depp<\/strong>\u2018s film career falling off a cliff. After all, that\u2019s what this whole trial is all about \u2014 he\u2019s suing ex <strong>Amber Heard<\/strong> for defamation, saying her op-ed accusing him of domestic abuse cost him millions.<\/p>\n<p>But it turns out we\u2019ve heard more about\u00a0<em>Amber\u2019s<\/em> film career. She has contended for a while now, including in her\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em> piece, that going public with domestic violence allegations hurt her Hollywood prospects. That never really made sense to us as she actually got the\u00a0<strong>DC<\/strong> superhero role of Mera after first going public \u2014 and that was by far her biggest step into the spotlight yet.<\/p>\n<p>However, we\u2019ve learned that her part in\u00a0<em>Aquaman 2<\/em> really was in danger of being ripped away by the undertow. The reason for it? Well, that\u2019s the controversial part.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Kate Moss To Testify In DEFENSE Of Johnny \u2014 Because Of What Amber Said!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Obviously the 4.3 million fans who have signed the petition asking\u00a0<strong>Warner Bros<\/strong> to fire Amber believe there\u2019s substantial evidence that\u00a0<em>she<\/em> abused Johnny Depp. Hollywood consultant\u00a0<strong>Kathryn Arnold<\/strong> said in her testimony that Amber was right \u2014 it was Johnny\u2019s legal team calling her accusations a \u201choax\u201d that changed things. She explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey [Hollywood] like her work but they can\u2019t work with her because every time her name is mentioned, the negativity flares up again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That much we think everyone can agree on. Well, almost everyone.<\/p>\n<p>WB exec <strong>Walter Hamada<\/strong> confirmed Amber was almost recast in the sequel, though in his testimony \u2014 which was recorded last year but played for the courtroom on Tuesday \u2014 he said it was due mostly to lack of chemistry with star <strong>Jason Momoa<\/strong> in the first film. Hamada explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou know it when you see it, and the chemistry wasn\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He said the only reason it wasn\u2019t a huge complaint by audiences was because director <strong>James Wan<\/strong> and his editor did a good job making it work with what they had in post-production:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cA good editor and filmmaker can pick the right takes, can pick the right moments.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But Hamada testified that he thought there was no reason to make their jobs harder \u2014 and pushed to replace her with an actress with whom their star would have a more \u201cnatural chemistry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, we guess no one told Jason about that! According to Kathryn Arnold, it was Momoa and Wan who saved Amber\u2019s job in the end! Arnold testified on Monday that while some studio execs were ready to can her, it was her co-star and director who were \u201ccommitted to her.\u201d We should note, we are going on Arnold\u2019s word here. The normally outspoken Jason Momoa has <em>not<\/em> come out swinging in his leading lady\u2019s defense. In fact, he started following Johnny Depp on\u00a0<strong>Instagram<\/strong> recently \u2014 causing quite a few eyebrow raises around town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"highlight\">Hmm\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Still, Arnold claims Momoa and Wan were \u201cadamant\u201d she stay in the film. Not so adamant that they fought for her to get the raise Momoa got, however! Arnold spilled the tea when it came to salaries, saying the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em> alum got a big bump up from $3 million to $15 mil for the second film. Makes sense considering the first one performed beyond Warner Bros\u2019 expectations, earning over a BILLION at the box office, far more than\u00a0<em>Batman v Superman<\/em>, <em>Justice League<\/em>, or even <em>Wonder Woman<\/em>. But Amber had to keep her same $2 million salary.<\/p>\n<p>While Arnold argued she should have been bumped up to $6 mil, that only makes sense if she had a similarly large role as in the first movie, where she\u2019s the female lead and number 2 on the call sheet. According to what we\u2019ve heard her role was cut down quite a bit. In fact, Arnold herself gave some deets she maybe shouldn\u2019t have about just that \u2014 spilling some potential spoilers for\u00a0<em>Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom<\/em>. She said in the first draft of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> Amber read, her character Mera had a \u201cstrong romantic arc\u201d and \u201csome great action sequences.\u201d In later versions it was \u201cradically reduced.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cShe ends up in the hospital early in this new <em>Aquaman 2<\/em> movie and doesn\u2019t really come out until the end to kind of wrap things up. All the interactions with Momoa\u2019s character, and certainly the action scenes, were taken out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Arnold wasn\u2019t specific, but she did spill one detail, saying that maybe Princess Mera was in the hospital because she was \u201cinjured\u201d or maybe \u201cit had something to do with a baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So is she pregnant with Aquaman\u2019s child? It apparently happens in the comics, so it would make sense! But for the female lead to get sidelined from being a superhero action star to being in the hospital taking care of her baby? Pretty disappointing.<\/p>\n<p>The question remains\u00a0<em>why<\/em> she got the shaft. Is it because of a \u201csmear campaign\u201d? Is it a fair reaction to the evidence that\u2019s come out so far?
