\n Vice President Mike Pence came out swinging against his new 2020 vice-presidential opponent Sen. Kamala Harris \u2014 telling supporters that she represents the \u201cradical left\u201d with promises of \u201csocial<\/a>ized medicine and abortion on demand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking at a Latter-day Saints for Trump campaign event in Arizona Tuesday, the vice president remarked to the crowd that, \u201cOn the way here I learned that Joe Biden named his running mate,\u201d a comment that was met with boos.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you all know, Joe Biden and the Democratic Party have been overtaken by the radical left. So given their promises of higher taxes, open borders, socialized medicine and abortion on demand, it\u2019s no surprise that he chose Sen. Harris,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou all might like to know that the vice presidential debate is on Oct. 7 in Utah. So my message to the Democratic nominee for vice president: Congratulations. I\u2019ll see you in Salt Lake City.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pence\u2019s remarks were his first public comments since Harris (D-Calif.) was officially tapp<\/a>ed as presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden\u2019s vice-presidential pick.<\/p>\n

President Trump also offered his thoughts on Harris Tuesday after she officially joined the Democratic ticket.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was my No. 1 draft pick,\u201d the commander-in-chief told reporters at a White House press conference when asked how he felt about the California Democrat\u2019s selection.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was surprised\u201d that Biden picked her \u201cbecause she did so poorly\u201d in the primary race, he added.<\/p>\n

Trump went on to slam Harris\u2019 treatment of Biden during last year\u2019s Democratic primary, saying that, \u201cShe was probably nastier than Pocahontas to Joe Biden,\u201d a reference to his preferred nickname for fellow 2020 Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).<\/p>\n

\u201c[Harris] was very, very nasty\u2026to Joe Biden. She was very disrespectful to Joe Biden. She said things during the debates\u2026that were horrible about \u2018Sleepy Joe,\u2019 and I would think he wouldn\u2019t have picked [her],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Still, Trump argued, \u201cI think Joe knows even less than she does.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
