Smucker Co. issued a recall last Friday for Jif peanut butter products sold nationwide because of potential salmonella contamination.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past two days,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\">eight new entries\u00a0<\/a>have been added to the Food and Drug Administration\u2019s recall page. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The impacted products had been sold in many well known stores, from Wawa to retail behemoth Walmart.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Albertsons Cos., one of the largest food and drug retailers in the nation, also issued a recall for 11 store-prepared items that were sold at over 20 of its grocery stores. This includes Albertsons, Safeway, Pak \u2018N Save, Shaw\u2019s, Star Market, Randalls, Vons and Balducci\u2019s.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To date, none of the companies has reported any illnesses or injuries in relation to their products.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, federal health officials have been investigating the outbreak that has been linked to certain Jif products produced at the company\u2019s facility in Lexington, Ky., according to the FDA.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/jif-recall-salmonella2.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Jif brand peanut butter\" class=\"wp-image-22423216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/jif-recall-salmonella2.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/jif-recall-salmonella2.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/jif-recall-salmonella2.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>To date, none of the companies has reported any illnesses or injuries in relation to Jif products.  <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cEpidemiologic and laboratory data show that some Jif brand peanut butters may be contaminated with Salmonella Senftenberg and are making people sick,\u201d the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a notice\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/salmonella\/senftenberg-05-22\/details.html\"><u>about the investigation.<\/u><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To date, 14 people have fallen ill and two others have been hospitalized. However, the actual number of people sick is likely \u201cmuch higher,\u201d according to the CDC.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>The\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/lifestyle\/jif-peanut-butter-recall-expanded\">J.M. Smucker Co. previously told FOX Business<\/a>\u00a0that it\u2019s \u201cconfident\u201d it has properly defined the scope of the recall and the incident was isolated to its Lexington manufacturing facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>None of its other products or peanut-butter-producing facilities have been impacted in any manner, according to the company.<\/p>\n<p>Salmonella symptoms can include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
