She helped kill grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary the next night in what prosecutors say was an attempt by Manson to start a race war.<\/p>\n<p>The parole recommendation will be reviewed by the state parole board\u2019s legal division before likely going to Gov. Gavin <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>om for a decision within five months. He has previously rejected parole recommendations for other followers of Manson, who died in prison in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>New laws since Krenwinkel was last denied parole in 2017 required the parole panel to consider that she committed the murders at a young age and is now an elderly prisoner.<\/p>\n<p>Also, for the first time, Los Angeles County prosecutors weren\u2019t at the parole hearing to object, under District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n\u2019s policy that prosecutors should not be involved in deciding whether prisoners are ready for release.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/manson-follower.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Charles Manson followers Susan Atkins (left), Patricia Krenwinkel (center) and Leslie Van Houten were all convicted of murder. \" class=\"wp-image-22434808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/manson-follower.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/manson-follower.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/manson-follower.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Charles Manson followers Susan Atkins (left), Patricia Krenwinkel (center) and Leslie Van Houten were all convicted of murder. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, Krenwinkel\u2019s attorney, Keith Wattley, said relatives of her victims offered the same objections at the hearing as prosecutors have in the past.<\/p>\n<p>What was different this time was that the parole panel was willing to follow the law, he said, recognizing that she has had no disciplinary violations and is no longer a danger to society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s completely transformed from the person she was when she committed this crime, which is all that it\u2019s supposed to take to be granted parole,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m hopeful that the governor recognizes that he shouldn\u2019t be playing political <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s with people\u2019s lives,\u201d Wattley said. \u201cThe governor would be blocking her parole not because he\u2019s afraid of her, but because he doesn\u2019t like her. And the law doesn\u2019t allow that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Krenwinkel remains incarcerated at the California Institution for Women east of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioners five years ago rejected her parole despite arguments then that she was affected by battered women\u2019s syndrome when she helped in the bloody slayings.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Krenwinkel was a 19-year-old secretary living with her older sister when she met Manson, then age 33, at a party. She testified in 2016 that she soon left everything behind to follow him because she thought they might have a romantic relationship.<\/p>\n<p>But she said Manson abused her physically and emotionally and trafficked her to other men for sex. She said she fled twice only to be brought back and that she was rarely left alone and usually was under the influence of drugs.<\/p>\n<p>At her last parole hearing, Krenwinkel told how she repeatedly stabbed Abigail Folger, 26, heiress to a coffee fortune, at Tate\u2019s home on Aug. 9, 1969.<\/p>\n<p>The next night, she said Manson and his right-hand man, Charles \u201cTex\u201d Watson, told her to \u201cdo something witchy,\u201d so she stabbed La Bianca in the stomach with a fork, then took a rag and wrote \u201cHelter Skelter,\u201d \u2033Rise\u201d and \u201cDeath to Pigs\u201d on the walls with his blood.<\/p>\n<p>She and other participants were initially sentenced to death. But they were resentenced to life with the possibility of parole after the death penalty in California was briefly ruled unconstitutional in 1972.<\/p>\n<p>Krenwinkel became the state\u2019s longest-serving female inmate when fellow Manson follower Susan Atkins died of cancer in prison in 2009.
