\n A flash flood watch is in effect for the lower Hudson valley and a swath of northeast New Jersey Wednesday \u2014 just over a week after Tropical Storm Isaias ripped through the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cTorrential downpours possible,\u201d the National Weather Service tweeted Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

In New York State, Rockland County as well as northern and southern Westchester County are under the watch, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n

The flash flood watch, resulting from a slow-moving thunderstorm system expected to bring heavy rain and flooding, has been issued for all or part of 16 New Jersey counties, NJ.com reported.<\/p>\n

The only counties in the Garden State not included under the watch are Atlantic, Cape May, Hudson, Ocean and Sussex. The watch begins at noon in Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Union counties, and at 11 a.m. elsewhere.<\/p>\n

While thunderstorms are predicted in New York City, it\u2019s not currently included under the flash flood watch.<\/p>\n

Still, a heat advisory remains in effect in the Big App<\/a>le until 8 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cA hot and humid airmass continues in place across the local area today,\u201d the weather service tweeted. \u201cHeat advisories are in effect for much of the area for heat index values in the mid 90s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooling centers are open for those looking to beat the heat, the city\u2019s Office of Emergency Management tweeted.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
