We really don\u2019t make comments about the evaluations that we made or what they looked like, what they didn\u2019t look like, strengths and weaknesses, those kinds of thing. Reports out of the workout were positive; <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RapSheet\/status\/1529868765827063811\">NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport<\/a> tweeted that he impressed and that the \u201cdoor is open,\u201d while <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JFowlerESPN\/status\/1529899205573193740\">ESPN\u2019s Jeremy Fowler<\/a> said the team noted his \u201carm strength and good overall conditioning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders have Derek Carr entrenched as a starter, but lost last year\u2019s backup, Marcus Mariota, to the Falcons during the offseason. If signed, Kaepernick could theoretically slide into that role and perhaps be involved in some packages as a runner.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the team has made it very clear that they will not discuss him publicly until the ink is put to the paper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe brought in tons of people for workouts,\u201d McDaniels said. \u201cIf there\u2019s an opportunity to improve the team, we said it from Day 1 that we would look at every opportunity. He\u2019s not the first player that we\u2019ve looked at and not the last one.
