<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       Amazon, in the spotlight over working conditions and facing more than a dozen shareholder proposals, announced at its annual <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> meeting Wednesday that none of the resolutions passed.<\/p>\n<p> Many of the 14 resolutions on Amazon.com Inc.\u2019s<br \/>\n        AMZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210331248\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+3.66%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       proxy were worker-related. Among them: examining worker health and safety disparities; a report on the company\u2019s use of concealment clauses in employment, termination and settlement agreements; a report on workers\u2019 rights of freedom of association and collective bargaining; a third-party audit on working conditions; and a report on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>n gender and racial pay gaps. Three of these resolutions were presented at the meeting by Amazon warehouse workers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       According to the company\u2019s regulatory filing Friday, the worker-related resolution that got the most votes (44%) was the one that called for a third-party audit on working conditions. The resolution calling for more information about workers\u2019 freedom of association received 39% of yes votes.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Amazon warehouse worker Daniel Olayiwola presented a floor resolution urging the company to end the use of productivity quotas and worker surveillance at its warehouse facilities and distribution network. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery day, Amazon workers, like me, are injured on the job,\u201d he said, according to the text of his remarks. \u201cWhether you\u2019re a driver, a picker, a stower, when you work for Amazon you put your health and safety on the line every single shift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His resolution got only 914, 148 votes out of a total of more than 372 million votes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also see:<\/strong> As Amazon shareholders call for audit of warehouse working conditions, report finds more than double the rate of injuries than at other warehouses<\/p>\n<p>Amazon, which urged investors to vote against all shareholder resolutions, prevailed despite recommendations from influential proxy advisory firms Institutional Shareholder Services and Glass Lewis that investors <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>rove many of the resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>Asset manager Schroders, which has $990 billion under management, had pre-declared that it would vote for three of the proposals, requesting: a report on worker health and safety differences; more information on workers\u2019 freedom of association; and a report on warehouse working conditions. <\/p>\n<p>Marina Severinovsky, head of sustainability for Schroders in North America, said Wednesday afternoon that the vote outcomes were not surprising but that she wasn\u2019t expecting changes to come easily or quickly.<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>Schroders has engaged with Amazon on worker issues since 2015, Severinovsky told MarketWatch. \u201cIt will probably be a multiyear process to change the existing realities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She added that there seems to be more political, regulatory and social will to examine worker issues, especially after the coronavirus pandemic \u201cchanged how we perceive work and relate to work\u2026 It\u2019s the beginning of the momentum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>See:<\/strong> Amazon union leader: \u2018It\u2019s not a Democrat or Republican thing. It\u2019s a workers thing\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Amazon also announced that shareholders approved its executive-compensation program, and that a majority voted for all board members.
