Shrapnel from shells pierced the vehicle\u2019s armor, fatally wounding an accredited French journalist in the neck who was reporting on the evacuation,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Haidai added that a Ukrainian military officer present was saved by his helmet. <\/p>\n<p>A second french journalist was injured in the attack, according to Ukrainian Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko, as well as a Ukrainian woman accompanying them.<\/p>\n<p>French President Emmanuel Macron <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EmmanuelMacron\/status\/1531280177992454146\">paid his respects to Leclerc-Imhoff on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJournalist Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Leclerc-Imhoff was in Ukraine to show the reality of the war. On board a humanitarian bus, alongside civilians forced to flee to escape Russian bombs, he was fatally shot,\u201d Macron wrote. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI share the pain of the family, relatives and colleagues of Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Leclerc-Imhoff, to whom I send my condolences.
