content including the sharing of &quot;fake news&quot; were likely to be blocked, according to the survey.\" class=\"wp-image-22461732\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/millennials-mobile-03.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/millennials-mobile-03.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/millennials-mobile-03.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Family members who posted \u201cproblematic\u201d content including the sharing of \u201cfake news\u201d were likely to be blocked, according to the survey.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images\/iStockphoto<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nearly two in five people from all age groups \u2014 37.6% \u2014 said they blocked family members who were estranged while 28.6% said that they blocked loved ones because of \u201cannoying comments on my posts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About one in five of everyone polled \u2014 22.7% \u2014 said they blocked loved ones in order to \u201chide my personal life\u201d while 14.1% complained that their relatives \u201cpost too much religious content.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just over one in 10 from all age groups \u2014 11.3% \u2014 said family members were \u201ctagging me in posts too often,\u201d resulting in a block.<\/p>\n<p>The survey was conducted of 2,040 US residents who use both Facebook and its sister social media network, Instagram \u2014 both of which are owned by Meta Platforms Inc.<\/p>\n<p>The study found that just 25.8% of Instagram users from all age groups admitted to blocking a family member.<\/p>\n<p>Most who did block a loved one on Instagram said the reason for doing so was to hide their own content rather than avoid seeing what the other family member was posting.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly two-thirds of all Instagram users who were surveyed \u2014 62.1% \u2014 said they blocked a family member in order to conceal aspects of their personal lives.<\/p>\n<p>Others cited estrangement and posting annoying comments as other main reasons.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
