Here\u2019s what to do, how to contact the owner, and how to disable the AirTag if you suspect something isn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_To_Do_When_You_See_This_Message\"><\/span>What To Do When You See This Message<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You\u2019ll receive this warning as a push notification, either on your lock screen or as a pop-up at the top of the screen. Tap on it to open the Find My <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> with more information. You\u2019ll have a few options available to you, including a \u201cPlay Sound\u201d button which will cause the AirTag to emit a high-pitched noise.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-806513\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/airtag_moving_with_you.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"&quot;AirTag Found Moving With You&quot; Notification\" width=\"650\" height=\"182\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You can keep tapping this button until you are able to locate the AirTag in question. If you find it and decide it poses no threat, you can use the \u201cPause Safety Alerts\u201d button to stop being alerted to this AirTag\u2019s presence. This might be handy, for example, if you\u2019ve borrowed a friend\u2019s bag and they\u2019ve left an AirTag on it, where you don\u2019t suspect foul play.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve found the AirTag you can scan it with your iPhone (use the \u201cIdentify Found Item\u201d button on the Items tab of the Find My app to do this manually), then tap on \u201cLearn About This AirTag\u201d to get more information. You\u2019ll be able to see if the AirTag has been put into Lost Mode, which means that the owner of the item is attempting to find it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-806514\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/airtag_play_sound.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Play Sound to locate nearby AirTag\" width=\"650\" height=\"441\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>If the item has been lost, the AirTag will have a message and contact information for you to get in contact with the owner. If the AirTag is not in Lost Mode, you can tap \u201cDisable AirTag\u201d to get information on how to remove the battery and prevent it from being tracked.<\/p>\n<p>If you do suspect foul play, keep hold of the AirTag and take it to the police. There\u2019s no way to find out who owns an AirTag that you have found, but Apple registers each tracker to an Apple ID and can be ordered by a court to provide that information to law enforcement if necessary.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Does_This_Warning_Mean\"><\/span>What Does This Warning Mean?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>AirTags have a relatively high potential for abuse, which has caused Apple to improve its anti-stalking measures since the item trackers were first introduced. Apple\u2019s Find My network is by far the most effective of its kind, which is great <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> if you lose something but comes with privacy concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cAirTag Found Moving With You\u201d message will only trigger in specific, circumstances. Because the owner\u2019s iPhone is within range, Apple doesn\u2019t consider this a risky situation. If you don\u2019t have an iPhone, you might never receive a warning on your device. In this instance, you may be able to hear an AirTag that\u2019s been lost or is being used to track you.<\/p>\n<lite-youtube videoid=\"I1LdbZdCRzI\" style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/I1LdbZdCRzI\/hqdefault.jpg');\">\n<button type=\"button\" class=\"lty-playbtn\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"lyt-visually-hidden\">Play Video<\/span><br \/>\n<\/button>\n<\/lite-youtube>\n<p>Listen out for the distinctive <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=I1LdbZdCRzI\">sound an AirTag plays<\/a> once it\u2019s been away from its owner for an extended period. This could happen after eight hours of absence (or longer).
