Tether\u2019s reported bank partner Capital Union shares its crypto strategy &#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjItMDYvMmYwZjk2NTMtYTJlNy00N2MxLWI2MjctMzc3OTlmNzRmNGJhLmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-2a0745c6>Capital Union, a Bahamas-based bank that reportedly holds a portion of reserves by the Tether (USDT) stablecoin issuer, has been itself actively involved in the cryptocurrency industry.<\/p>\n<p>The banking institution has rolled out crypto trading and custody services to its professional clients as part of the bank&#8217;s trading desk, a spokesperson for Capital Union told Cointelegraph on May 31.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe work with a few selected trading venues and liquidity providers and a handful of custodians and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> providers, which allows us to support a large variety of digital assets as part of our trading and custody services,\u201d the\u00a0firm&#8217;s representative said.<\/p>\n<p>Capital Union\u2019s crypto-related services still represent a \u201cfairly small portion\u201d of its business, which is mainly focused on providing traditional wealth management and investment services, the representative noted. <\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson did not elaborate either on what cryptocurrencies exactly are supported on the Capital Union\u2019s platform or when they were launched, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe do not have a directional view on crypto markets or on any specific coins but as a forward looking financial institution have chosen to enable our professional clients to trade in this new asset class should they desire to do so.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the representative, Capital Union has also been actively working on developing \u201ctransactional blockchain related capabilities\u201d as the bank expects this to be an area of \u201csignificant disruption for the financial industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Capital Union\u2019s latest crypto-related remarks follow a May 30 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/e4cb9a6e-cb29-4719-b6ee-33a5bf01945e\">report<\/a> claiming that Tether held some of its reserves at the Capital Union bank. The company\u2019s representative declined to confirm or deny the bank\u2019s involvement in Tether&#8217;s operations to Cointelegraph, citing confidentiality reasons. The only publicly available information from the bank is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/capitalunionbank.com\/financials\/\">included<\/a> in Capital Union\u2019s annual reports, the person added.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Stablecoin supplies and cash reserves in question amid crypto exodus<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2013, Capital Union managed $1 billion of assets by the end of 2020. The bank <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.financialexpress.com\/digital-currency\/capital-union-bank-collaborates-with-blockchain-platform-chainalysis\/2508827\/\">partnered<\/a> with Chainalysis in April 2022 in order to ensure the safe and compliant rollout of its crypto solutions like trading and custody.
