Gold and silver were mixed, and were trading near their lowest levels in two weeks. <\/p>\n<p> Platinum<br \/>\n        PL00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210261555\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+1.48%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n      and palladium <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"#phrase-company?ref=COMPANY%7CPA00;onlineSignificance=prominent\" class=\"icon none\">PA00<\/a>were both trading higher on the day, with platinum up more than 3% at one point to trade at more than $1,000 an ounce, its strongest level in two weeks. However,  it gave back some of those gains in recent trade. <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Palladium<br \/>\n        PA00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210237962\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.79%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       meanwhile, was down 2.4%, or $50, to $1,994 per ounce. <\/p>\n<p>Futures for the yellow metal<br \/>\n        GC00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210034565\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.34%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       erased earlier losses to trade down $2 or 0.1%, to $1,832 on Wednesday, while silver<br \/>\n        SI00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210315219\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.24%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       futures were up 10 cents, or 0.5%, to $21.80. <\/p>\n<p>In other markets, U.S. stocks edged lower, with the S&amp;P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average turning lower on the session shortly after the open. <\/p>\n<p>Analysts with Commerzbank\u2019s commodity research desk said that gold and silver are reversing some of their gains over the past two weeks because of rising yields in the U.S. They also blamed a historic European inflation print this week and the European Central Bank\u2019s plans to raise interest rates in July for souring the precious metal\u2019s allure.  <\/p>\n<p>After advancing 9.4 basis points on Friday,  the 10-year Treasury yield<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD10Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">2.924%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       added to its recent move higher on Wednesday as bonds sold off (bond prices move inversely to yields).
