Yontef didn\u2019t miss a beat by bringing it up in the first place, asking Eric to open up about the 54-year-old superstar.<\/p>\n<p>In response, the elder Roberts revealed he and Julia \u201chave always been fine,\u201d and tried to explain why rumors of a rift had come about in the first place. According to the <em>Runaway Train<\/em> star, the drama started during a press junket years ago, and quickly spiraled beyond his control:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOh yeah, Julia and I have always been fine. I think years and years ago I was doing a press tour for some movie. I don\u2019t even know what movie it was, and it was just when <em>Pretty Woman<\/em> just got released. And so they\u2019re asking a bunch of questions about Julia. And I said, Hey, excuse me. Can we talk about me? I think I was very funny. And of course, then it\u2019s like, \u2018oh, they have a problem. Oh my God, they have a problem.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"highlight\">Oh no!<\/p>\n<p>From there, Eric recalled, things got out of hand within the gossip world, and quickly went far beyond what he thought his off-handed joking remark would become:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSuddenly, all these problems I keep hearing about I have with my sister that I don\u2019t have with my sister. And they\u2019re just popping up all the place. And I\u2019m asked about them as if they\u2019re real issues. So what happened, well, \u2018so and so said so and so.\u2019 And \u2018oh, I wasn\u2019t aware of that,\u2019 and \u2018so now they\u2019re keeping a secret, so Eric won\u2019t talk about it,\u2019 but it blew up and became all these things.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Moving past the point of that infamous first comment that snowballed into a rift, Eric pontificated more on the nature of his overall connection to his younger sister, too. He acknowledged that the two of them \u201cdon\u2019t agree on a lot of things,\u201d but said they nevertheless have a good relationship and a meaningful connection. He also gushed about her ability to balance parenting with a very demanding career:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe don\u2019t agree on a lot of things, my sister and I, though we\u2019ve always talked, we\u2019ve always bitched. I\u2019ve always had fun, knowing each other. Simple as that. Don\u2019t get me wrong. I love knowing my sister. She\u2019s a cool chick, my sister. And she\u2019s got these three adolescent children now. I mean, her life, her life has not, is not a day at the beach dude. You know? And, and she, she\u2019s got a lot of shit she has to deal with. And she\u2019s doing a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TV series<\/a> again now. I mean, she\u2019s doing a lot of stuff and I don\u2019t ignore it. I just stay out of her hair with the press. And that\u2019s all. Simple. And she says out of mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Wow! Seems pretty simple, indeed.<\/p>\n<p>There is one thing about Julia\u2019s life that Eric loves above all others, though: being an uncle to the\u00a0<em>Erin Brockovich<\/em> star\u2019s three children!<\/p>\n<p>When asked about that, Eric opened up with his thoughts on the wonders of being the cool uncle:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWell, I\u2019ve got a made. I mean, I\u2019ve got it made. And it\u2019s like, it\u2019s like being grandparent. I have my, my granddaughter. I mean, I\u2019m like, Spider-Man, I\u2019m the ultimate guy. And it\u2019s just really cool. And it\u2019s the same as being an uncle, you know. You can do no wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Awww! That\u2019s sweet!<\/p>\n<p>Yontef didn\u2019t miss this time, either, following it up with a question about how Julia is as a mom. Eric im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely pulled back, joking that the query was a great way to get him \u201cin trouble\u201d with her:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOh, you know what, if I start doing that, I\u2019m going to get myself in trouble no matter what I say.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But he eventually answered it anyways, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cShe\u2019s a great mom, by the way. She\u2019s a cool mom. She\u2019s a hip mom.
