Meanwhile, we want to share some stats coming out of the launch.<\/p>\n<p>With &gt;50% of Drop 1 now claimed, let\u2019s dive in! <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oGnxB47E3f\">pic.twitter.com\/oGnxB47E3f<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Optimism (\u2728_\u2728) (@optimismPBC) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/optimismPBC\/status\/1532110295421829123?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 1, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nFollowing the sharp drop of OP\u2019s price, a member of Optimism\u2019s governance community who goes \u201cOxJohn\u201d put <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gov.optimism.io\/t\/users-who-sold-the-initial-op-airdrop-should-become-ineligible-for-all-future-airdrops\/2143\/296\">forward<\/a> a proposal in the Optimism governance forum to exclude addresses that dumped 100% of their airdropped tokens. The post garnered a significant amount of attention from the community, pulling in 11,200 views, 305 replies and 595 likes. <\/p>\n<p>OxJohn highlighted several addresses that received at least 32,000 OP tokens and promptly dumped them on the market, arguing that their actions are \u201ccounter-productive\u201d to the community and diluted the governance process.<\/p>\n<p>The OP hodler went on to suggest that these accounts should be barred from the next round of OP airdrops with \u201ca public list of accounts that engage in this behavior\u201d excluded. In their view, doing so would see the distribution of governance weight to only those who plan to actively participate. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhy should Optimism Collective continue rewarding these kind of mercenary actors who will dump their tokens on first sight? Why should any future airdrops reward these addresses?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The proposal was submitted purely for ideas and feedback, and is not close to the stage of being voted on. The reaction from the governance community has been mixed so far. Some users were in complete support, others rejected the idea totally and some were calling for a more nuanced position. <\/p>\n<p>User Mohammedt75 sadi: \u201cVery valid points. Incentivize people who care about the longer term and let others who don&#8217;t care about the ecosystem pack and get out.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Mgomes stated that \u201cone of the goals of the airdrop is to incentivize people to use the chain. Even if they plan to dump it is fine, because they have used Optimism and if they liked the chain they will keep using it.\u201c <\/p>\n<p>Member JustinMarx also highlighted an interesting counterpoint, stating that dumpers should not be penalized as \u201cyou never know the personal circumstances of someone who dumped their tokens.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The proposal to punish <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24OP&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$OP<\/a> airdrop dumpers by excluding them from future airdrops is some Paraswap shit lol. He responded to the proposal in his typical satirical\/mocking manner.<\/p>\n<p>Cobie <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gov.optimism.io\/t\/extended-ineligibility-for-future-airdrops\/2249\/58\">submitted<\/a> a lengthy counter-proposal in the forum titled \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gov.optimism.io\/t\/extended-ineligibility-for-future-airdrops\/2249\">Extended ineligibility for future airdrops<\/a>\u201d that was temporarily removed due to being flagged as \u201cin<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriate\u201d but has since been reinstated. <\/p>\n<p>In it, he said that \u201cmy lack of support for this proposal is not because I disagree with the sentiment. On the contrary, it is because this proposal does not go far enough.\u201d <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI propose that we, Optimism Collective, cancel the future airdrops of anyone that has sold any token in the last 6 months. Governance certainly performs the same whether the price is $1.50 or $2.
