Chipotle&#8217;s website does not contain any information on the announcement however.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Bitcoin, but make it **burritos.**<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re delighted to share that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChipotleTweets?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ChipotleTweets<\/a> is now accepting payments in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/bitcoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#bitcoin<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ether?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ether<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/dogecoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#dogecoin<\/a>, and more, exclusively through Flexa. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/W0ktwPX7i3\">https:\/\/t.co\/W0ktwPX7i3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Flexa (@FlexaHQ) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FlexaHQ\/status\/1532036950785400833?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 1, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe fast food giant is the latest Flexa partner joining other large businesses such as cinema operator Regal Theaters and Bancoagr\u00edcola, El Salvador\u2019s largest financial institution where Flexa enables both retail and merchant Bitcoin transactions for the bank&#8217;s customers.<\/p>\n<p>Chipotle has briefly experimented with cryptocurrencies in the past. In April 2021 to celebrate National Burrito Day it gave away $100,000 worth of Bitcoin along with free burritos and claimed it was the first U.S. restaurant brand to offer a crypto giveaway.<\/p>\n<p>For the so called \u201cchiptocurrency\u201d giveaway Chipotle partnered with former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas, creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> where players guessed a code possibly winning either a burrito or up to $25,000 worth of Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>The game parodied Thomas\u2019 experience of losing over 7,000 BTC due to forgetting the password for his crypto wallet which today would be worth over $208 million.<\/p>\n<p>Other fast food names have explored or signaled interest in crypto and metaverse <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications for their brands. Burger King partnered with trading platform Robinhood in Nov 2021 and gave away free Dogecoin (DOGE) BTC and ETH with meal purchases.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>How can the Metaverse help the food industry?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>McDonald\u2019s, known for poking fun at crypto <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, filed multiple trademark applications in February including plans for \u201ca virtual restaurant featuring actual and virtual goods\u201d in the Metaverse and \u201coperating a virtual restaurant featuring home delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With crypto adoption in the U.S. remaining high despite market turbulence merchants have expressed desire to implement payment solutions to capture the growing interest.<\/p>\n<p>A Crypto.com global survey of merchants released in February showed only 4% were already accepting cryptocurrency payments, but nearly 60% of merchants responded with an interest in accepting crypto payments within the next year.<\/p>\n<p>Although enthusiasm from merchants overall was high only around 25% of the hospitality industry respondents were keen on crypto payment adoption.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
