And, perhaps, that\u2019s exactly the impetus we need to (partly) ditch our cars once and for all.<\/p>\n<p>The rise in gas prices and the subsequent inflation can work as an accelerator for the reduction of car use and the shift to cleaner modes of transport, such as escooters, mopeds, and ebikes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Making_the_best_out_of_the_oil_crisis\"><\/span>Making the best out of the oil crisis<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>                <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/xxufsq84dd?videoFoam=true&amp;autoPlay=true\" title=\"\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" class=\"wistia_embed\" name=\"wistia_embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\" msallowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/micromobility.io\/mmeurope#\/\">Micromobility Europe Conference 2022<\/a>, Karen Vancluysen Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> at the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.polisnetwork.eu\/\">Polis Network<\/a> \u2014 explained how high gas prices can help people get out of their cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen that h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening before during COVID-19,\u201d she said. \u201cDue to the pandemic measures, car use was reduced, cities allocated more space for active <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>, and people made higher use of micromobility services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And the stimulus behind this new trend wasn\u2019t really individual choice, as much as necessity, she elaborated.<\/p>\n<p>According to Vancluysen, the energy crisis presents a great opportunity for an impactful change in the modes of transportation. In other words, \u201csomething that hurts your wallet will induce behavioral change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And gradually, behavioral change changes the norm.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_get_there\"><\/span>How to get there<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The potential positive impact of the energy crisis shared by Gaetano Sciacovelli, Sales and Business Development Manager at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vaimoo.com\/en\/about-us\/\">VAIMOO<\/a>, who also spoke at the conference.<\/p>\n<p>As per Sciacovelii, VAIMOO \u2014 which provides ebike sharing service in 12 cities in Europe \u2014 has seen significant growth during the pandemic, and expects to expand further as a result of the oil crisis.<\/p>\n<p>But to capitalize on this potential for change, micromobility services need to also fulfill a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of important parameters:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Close proximity to public transport stations.<\/li>\n<li>Constant availability.<\/li>\n<li>Ease of use with the introduction of one app that can integrate micromobility operators and public transport, while offering a single fare that can be used for all services.<\/li>\n<li>Collaboration between cities and operators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both Sciacovelli and Vancluysen emphasized the role cities will have to play in the integration of alternative modes of transport.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the implementation of a regulatory framework that sets clear rules for operators and users, the improvement of the infrastructure, and the introduction of updated traffic measures.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, cities need to mitigate the shift in such a way that doesn\u2019t undermine public transport or replace walking altogether.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_the_takeaway\"><\/span>What\u2019s the takeaway?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Net Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario requires transport\u2019s emissions to drop by 20% until 2030 \u2014 and we\u2019re already <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/tracking-transport-2021\">falling behind on that goal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, micromobility has a crucial role to play in our transition to cleaner modes of transport.
