But it turns out the track almost fell into another rapper\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n<p>During a recent interview with <em>B High Atl<\/em>, \u201cWAIT FOR U\u201d co-producer ATL Jacob revealed Kanye West also took a liking to the beat and recorded to it, but ultimately failed to turn it into a finished song.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s crazy is before \u2018WAIT FOR U\u2019 came out, that was one of [Kanye\u2019s] favorite songs,\u201d Jacob said. \u201cHe was like, \u2018Man, this record crazy!\u2019 So we was trying some stuff on it but you know, we just ain\u2019t get to the point where we actually finished \u2018WAIT FOR U.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ATL Jacob Talks Working With Future, Young Thug, Kodak, Lil Baby And Charting 9 Singles At One Time\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QFN3LRSdvCc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Shedding more light on the song in an interview with <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/music\/atl-jacob-interview-future-i-never-liked-you-2022\/interview-2\">Complex<\/a><\/em> last month, ATL Jacob revealed Future initially skipped on the beat (or so he thought), until the Freebandz boss demanded it for himself months later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made it about a year ago \u2026 and I knew I was going to give it to Future. Then he skipped it,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we were talking the other day when we were at Drake\u2019s house, and he said he skipped it because he knew it was one of his favorites. He said he listened to that beat every day for a month straight \u2026 and he knew what he was going to do to it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA long time went by like, six or seven months. So I was like, let me try the beat with another artist, since he ain\u2019t like it. Then he called me and said, \u2018Hey, don\u2019t ever get this beat out to nobody else. I got a crazy song on it.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although \u201cWAIT FOR U\u201d wound up as a platinum hit for Future, Drake and Tems, ATL Jacob\u2019s studio time with Kanye West didn\u2019t amount to nothing. The 23-year-old producer picked up multiple credits on <em>DONDA 2<\/em> (which dropped exclusively on Ye\u2019s $200 stem player in February), co-producing \u201cPablo\u201d and \u201cKeep It Burnin,\u201d the latter of which also appeared on Future\u2019s <em>I NEVER LIKED YOU<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was actually very motivational, just the process and experience because he works so differently than everybody else that you\u2019ll work with,\u201d Jacob told <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.xxlmag.com\/atl-jacob-interview\/\">XXL<\/a><\/em> while reflecting on working with Ye. \u201cYou\u2019re just learning new things. It be kinda funny, though. He\u2019ll be like, \u2018These drums are crazy!
