Former Disney Exec Says\u2026<br \/>\n&#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" class=\"text\">\nNow that <strong>Johnny Depp<\/strong>\u2019s won his defamation case against<strong> Amber Heard<\/strong>, is there any chance he\u2019d return to his fan-favorite role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> franchise??<\/p>\n<p>Well, new comments from a former <strong>Disney<\/strong> executive seem to suggest there\u2019s a strong likelihood that the actor could be returning to the open seas \u2014 even despite his claims in court!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Amber Heard Releases Emotional Statement After Johnny Depp Wins<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While insiders have varying opinions on whether or not Johnny will be able to rise the ranks in Hollywood again after suffering a major blow to his reputation in the last few years, one former executive is confident Disney will want to capitalize on the actor\u2019s loyal fanbase. Speaking to <em>People<\/em> on Thursday, the confidant explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI absolutely believe post-verdict that <em>Pirates<\/em> is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Capt. Jack back on board. There is just too much potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The source also thinks the success of <strong>Tom Cruise<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>, made by the same producer as the <em>Pirates<\/em> films, <strong>Jerry<\/strong> <strong>Bruckheimer<\/strong>, could influence Disney to pursue a new film with Depp.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWith [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer riding high on the massive success of Tom Cruise in <em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>, there is huge <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>etite for bringing back bankable Hollywood stars in massively popular franchises.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Don\u2019t get ready to tune into a new swashbuckler film with Depp at the helm just yet though \u2014 another Hollywood insider has a completely different take on the situation. Speaking to the outlet, they said it is \u201cnot very likely\u201d that the 58-year-old will \u201ccome back as a star,\u201d but suggested:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBut they\u2019d probably make <em>Pirates 6<\/em> with <strong>Margot Robbie<\/strong> or someone similar.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Hmm. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously told <em>The Sunday Times<\/em> that Margot was in the running to star in one of two films he is currently developing. Assuming she\u2019d take the role, the insider added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI would think they make Robbie his daughter and likely have a cameo with him as a test.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And if that miraculously happens, it \u201clikely\u201d won\u2019t be released until 2025 due to production timelines. Of course, all this is a little skeptical considering all that Johnny has said about the films. As Perezcious readers know, he has been pretty adamant that he has no desire to return to <em>Pirates<\/em> or work with Disney again. During his defamation trial, Johnny testified that even if he was given $300 million, he would turn down the chance to work on another <em>Pirates<\/em> movie. He claimed he had a falling out with Disney execs who treated him like he was \u201cguilty until proven innocent\u201d amid his legal matter with the <em>Aquaman<\/em> star.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Amber Heard Is Reportedly \u2018Broke\u2019 After Years Of Legal Fees &amp; Big Spending!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But this confidant doesn\u2019t buy a word of that, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI don\u2019t believe that based on his money troubles, especially given <em>Pirates<\/em> is a billion-dollar global franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It would be pretty wild to turn down that much money\u2026 During the trial, Depp\u2019s agent claimed he lost a potential $22.5 million payday to do a sixth <em>Pirates<\/em> flick because of Heard\u2019s 2018 op-ed at the center of the defamation trial. So, he knows there\u2019s a large chunk of treasure waiting for him if he stepped back on board \u2014 would he really risk losing that again??<\/p>\n<p>Another industry source argued that Depp \u201cwill work again,\u201d even if not with Disney, but that it might be a challenge to get that first big role back:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI do feel someone will give him a chance. He is very likable and very talented. A studio will just have to gauge and see it worth the risk and value, but he also won public opinion. He gained a whole new fan base through this and, yes, he will be back.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A Hollywood agent agrees, claiming that \u201creputations have been torn down on both sides\u201d in the legal battle, but that Depp will still \u201cflourish, because this is the world that we live in,\u201d adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHis fans are very loyal and vocal and all know he is far from perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s never been more clear how loyal the <em>Fantastic Beasts<\/em> alum\u2019s fans have been until this trial, that\u2019s for sure. It\u2019s hard to know what will happen in the future. It would certainly be shocking to see him join <em>Pirates<\/em> after testifying so strongly against it, but who knows? Walking away from a paycheck that big would be hard for anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Would you like to see Capt. Jack\u2019s return?
