\n Attorney General<\/a> William Barr confirmed the US wants Prince Andrew to \u201cprovide some evidence\u201d about pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein \u2014 but insisted there are no plans to get him extradited.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a question of handing him over,\u201d Barr told Fox News<\/a>\u2019 \u201cSpecial Report\u201d Monday amid an ongoing war of words around the UK royals assistance in the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s just a question of having him provide some evidence. But beyond that, I\u2019m not going to comment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked outright if it could include extradition, Barr insisted, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barr\u2019s comments aired hours after the Duke of York\u2019s legal team, Blackfords LLP, traded barbs with federal prosecutors over whether or not the shamed royal was willing to cooperate.<\/p>\n

Andrew\u2019s lawyers insisted he \u201coffered his assistance\u201d at least three times, accusing the feds of \u201cseeking publicity\u201d and treating him \u201cby a lower standard than might reasonably be expected for any other citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manhattan US Attorney Geoffrey Berman soon hit back, accusing the prince of trying to \u201cfalsely portray himself to the public as eager and willing to cooperate\u201d in the \u201csex-trafficking\u201d probe.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Prince Andrew is, in fact, serious about cooperating with the ongoing federal investigation, our doors remain open, and we await word of when we should expect him,\u201d Berman said.<\/p>\n

The feds want to talk to him about his knowledge of Epstein, 66, who hanged himself in his Manhattan lockup in August while awaiting serious sex charges, as well as his associates.<\/p>\n

\u201cImportantly, the DOJ advised us that the Duke is not and has never been a \u2018target\u2019 of their criminal investigations into Epstein and that they sought his confidential, voluntary co-operation,\u201d Blackfords said in its statement.<\/p>\n

Andrew has been accused of having sex three times with one of Epstein\u2019s then-teenage accusers, claims he has always vehemently denied.<\/p>\n

He was\u00a0booted from royal duties\u00a0six months ago after a train-wreck BBC interview in which he tried to justify his long-term friendship with Epstein.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
