While the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> alum was awarded $15 million in damages, the amount was reduced to $10.35 million due to state law. But Amber, who was awarded $2 million in her countersuit, still plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eal the verdict.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Wait, Jason Momoa Supports Both Johnny Depp AND Amber Heard?!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And although the court found statements in her op-ed that were defamatory, <em>The Washington Post<\/em> still kept the piece up on its website. However, there is now an editor\u2019s note included to the digital version following Johnny\u2019s legal win! On Thursday, the publication dropped a message to the top of the article detailing which parts were found defamatory. The edit read:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn 2019, Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation arising out of this 2018 op-ed. On June 1, 2022, following a trial in Fairfax County, Va. Circuit Court, a jury found Heard liable on three counts for the following statements, which Depp claimed were false and defamatory: (1) \u2018I spoke up against sexual violence \u2014 and faced our culture\u2019s wrath. That has to change.\u2019 (2) \u2018Then two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture\u2019s wrath for women who speak out.\u2019 (3) \u2018I had the rare vantage point of seeing, in real time, how institutions protect men accused of abuse.\u2019 The jury separately found that Depp, through his lawyer Adam Waldman, defamed Heard in one of three counts in her countersuit.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Wow\u2026 You can ch-ch-check out the new addition <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/ive-seen-how-institutions-protect-men-accused-of-abuse-heres-what-we-can-do\/2018\/12\/18\/71fd876a-02ed-11e9-b5df-5d3874f1ac36_story.html\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Legal analyst <strong>Emily D. Baker<\/strong> told <em>People<\/em> that it was a \u201csmart move\u201d on to add the note instead of just removing the op-ed from the website, explaining:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBecause this case is so watched and commented on, I think the op-ed is still needed for context. I appreciate that they put up the notice rather than take the op-ed down. And I appreciate that they included, with specificity, exactly the statements that were found to be defamatory. It would have been easier to just take it down and say nothing. But I appreciate they\u2019re saying, \u2018Anyone who\u2019s reading this, this is what happened.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She has a point here!
