Are there not issues involving war, genocide, slavery, oppression of minorities and women, etc., being perpetrated by a host of other nations \u2014 some, I submit, in very close proximity to Israel? Have there been vehement protests, calls for boycotts, votes of censure and other hostile measures enacted?<\/p>\n<p>I ask again: why the Jewish state? Would it be impolitic to suggest that it might have something to do with anti-Semitism? I deplore the blame <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> that has become, all too often, a defense against legitimate condemnation. <\/p>\n<p>However, one would be negligent not to consider it as a viable factor.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mitchell A. Schwefel<\/em><br \/><em>Toms River, NJ<\/em><br \/><em><br \/><\/em><strong>Gun violence fix<br \/><\/strong>Using State Police to bust gun runners coming to New York is a good idea, but doesn\u2019t go far enough (\u201cGov is gunning for gun runners to NY,\u201d May 30).<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Kathy Hochul should order State Police to stop buying weapons from gun makers who sell assault weapons to civilians and urge all municipal police departments, including the NYPD, to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>Semi-automatic firearms, like the AR-15, put cops\u2019 and civilian lives at risk. All state, municipal and federal law-enforcement agencies should threaten to boycott gun makers unless they stop marketing mass-murder weapons to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> public.<\/p>\n<p>The risk of losing millions of dollars in government purchases might force gun company executives to do the right thing. They have no con<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>, but they do have a responsibility to shareholders. The bottom line is mightier than the bullet.<\/p>\n<p><em>Richard Reif<\/em><br \/><em>Queens<\/em><br \/><em><br \/><\/em><strong>Foie gross<br \/><\/strong>Thank you for \u201cFoie whaa?! NYC ban looms\u201d (May 29).<\/p>\n<p>If the ban goes into effect, I hope any workers who lose their jobs im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely get new, lucrative ones \u2014 jobs that don\u2019t involve intensively confining ducks and geese, denying everything that\u2019s natural to them and shoving tubes down their throats, all so that humans can eat their fattened livers as a \u201cdelicacy.\u201d Pathetic.<\/p>\n<p><em>James Scotto<\/em><br \/><em>Manhattan<\/em><br \/><em><br \/><\/em><strong>Rev.\u2019s cause<br \/><\/strong>I tip my hat to Rev. Corey Brooks. He is what it\u2019s all about (\u201cRaising the roof,\u201d May 29).<br \/>Here is a man who cares about these kids and is doing everything humanly possible to help them create decent lives.<\/p>\n<p>To everybody out there who donated to Black Lives Matter and now sees where their money went, how about sending a donation to Rev. Brooks? It\u2019s guaranteed he will put the money to good use.<\/p>\n<p><em>Patricia Fletcher<\/em><br \/><em>Massapequa Park<\/em><br \/><em><br \/><\/em><strong>Yeshiva funds<br \/><\/strong>I\u2019m fine with Orthodox Jews educating their children however they want, as long as they don\u2019t take a single dime of taxpayer money (\u201cEd. bid has schools \u2018losing their religion,\u2019\u200a\u201d May 31).<\/p>\n<p>If you are funded by New York state taxes, you must educate children so they are ready for jobs other than being rabbis.<\/p>\n<p>These schoolchildren must be held to the same state standards as all taxpayer-funded schoolchildren, public or charter.
