href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/03\/sport\/brittney-griner-written-correspondence-russia-detainment-spt\/index.html\">according to CNN<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The American WNBA star, who was arrested in Moscow in February for allegedly having cannabis oil in her luggage, has been detained for more than 100 days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Phoenix Mercury center played for Russia\u2019s BC UMMC Ekaterinburg during the WNBA offseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite being able to receive \u201csporadic\u201d correspondence, the 31-year-old still cannot talk with her wife or family, Griner\u2019s agent Lindsay Kagaway Colas told CNN.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWritten communication from her wife, family, friends and global sport community has been a source of comfort for BG during her wrongful detainment, going without real time, regular contact with loved ones is inhumane,\u201d Colas said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Russian court handling Griner\u2019s case pushed her pretrial detention date until June 18, to the report, the U.S. State Department condemned Russia\u2019s actions and classified Griner as wrongfully detained. The office of U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs is working on the WNBA player\u2019s case. Griner, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, can serve up to 10 years if convicted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt remains clear that Brittney Griner is being used as a political pawn and it is imperative that President Biden do whatever is necessary to return Brittney home quickly and safely.\u201d Colas said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Women\u2019s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) marked the 100th day of her detention in Russia by renewing calls for Griner\u2019s release.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
