The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/100317643\/type\/am\/sid\/120047\/https:\/\/about.att.com\/story\/2022\/5G-drone-program.html\">AT&amp;T 5G Flying COW<\/a> broadcasts a strong 5G signal within a range of about 10 miles. It\u2019s a stunning and strange achievement, partially aided by tethering the drone for power.<\/p>\n<p>The weird name, \u201cFlying COW,\u201d is actually an acronym for Flying Cell on Wings. It\u2019s literally a floating cell tower. AT&amp;T says that the drones can be operated from thousands of miles away, potentially opening the door to high-speed cell service in even the most remote or dangerous areas.<\/p>\n<p>AT&amp;T previously used LTE Flying COWs to provide internet access <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/100317643\/type\/am\/sid\/120047\/https:\/\/about.att.com\/innovationblog\/extreme_connections\">after natural disasters<\/a>, such as Hurricane Michael\u2014there\u2019s years of work behind this tech. But due to the short range of 5G signals, the 5G Flying COW isn\u2019t exactly suited for disaster relief. According to Art Pregler, UAS Program Director at AT&amp;T, future COWs could \u201cautonomously fly\u00a0without tethers for months without landing, using solar power to provide secure, reliable, and fast 5G connectivity to large numbers of users over wide geographic areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Researchers at AT&amp;T are currently working on an untethered version of the drone, though of course, advances in battery <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> may be required to use these things for more than an hour. Sticking a drone in the air for \u201cmonths without landing\u201d is quite the lofty goal.<\/p>\n<p>Even weirder, AT&amp;T says it\u2019s \u201cbuilding a litter of RoboDogs\u201d that can perform search and rescue missions or disable bombs.
