Gugu Mbatha-Raw stars in the series which follows a woman who tries to piece her life back together after suffering a traumatic brain injury and memory loss. Others in the cast include Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Stephan James, Ari Graynor, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Fran\u00e7ois Arnaud, and Millie Brady.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-131701\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apple TV+ revealed more about the new series in a press release.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cApple TV+ today unveiled a first-look at \u201cSurface,\u201d the new eight-episode psychological thriller from Veronica West (\u201cHigh Fidelity\u201d), which will premiere globally with the first three episodes on <b>Friday, July 29, 2022<\/b> on Apple TV+, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Set in high-end San Francisco, \u201cSurface,\u201d stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (\u201cThe Morning Show\u201d) who also executive produces, as Sophie, a woman who has suffered a traumatic head injury that has left her with extreme memory loss, believed to be a result of a suicide attempt. As Sophie embarks on a quest to put the pieces of her life back together with the help of her husband and friends, she begins to question whether or not the truth she is told is in fact the truth she has lived. Through twists and turns and an unexpected love triangle, this sexy, elevated thriller asks: What if you woke up one day and didn\u2019t know your own secrets? \u201cSurface\u201d is a story of self- discovery which contemplates if we are pre-programmed to become who we are, or if we choose our own identity.<\/p>\n<p>The ensemble cast starring alongside Mbatha-Raw includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen (\u201cThe Haunting of Hill House\u201d), Stephan James (\u201cIf Beale Street Could Talk\u201d), Ari Graynor (\u201cI\u2019m Dying Up Here\u201d), Academy Award nominee Marianne Jean-Baptiste (\u201cSecrets &amp; Lies\u201d), Fran\u00e7ois Arnaud (\u201cI Killed My Mother\u201d) and Millie Brady (\u201cPride and Prejudice and Zombies\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSurface\u201d is produced for Apple TV+ by Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine. West, who created and wrote the original series, also serves as executive producer. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive produce on behalf of Hello Sunshine. Emmy Award-nominee Sam Miller (\u201cI May Destroy You\u201d), directed four episodes of the series including the pilot and serves as executive producer.
