Under the deal (which was first reported by your correspondent, by the way) the NDP agreed to prop up the Liberals until 2015 in exchange for progress on dental care, pharmacare and other priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The poll found 39 per cent of Canadians were comfortable with the agreement,\u00a0 19 per cent somewhat comfortable, 11 per cent somewhat uncomfortable and 29 per cent uncomfortable. Pollster <strong>Nik Nanos<\/strong> said the poll is indicative of \u201celection fatigue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Many members:<\/strong>\u00a0CPC leadership candidates say they\u2019ve sold hundreds of thousands memberships, CP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsnews.com\/national-news\/conservatives-say-record-number-of-canadians-signed-up-to-vote-for-new-party-leader-5448236\">reports<\/a>.\u00a0 <strong>Pierre Poilievre\u2019s<\/strong> campaign claims to have signed up more than 311,000 people before Friday\u2019s deadline \u2014 more than the total number of members who were eligible to vote in the last two leadership races.\u00a0<strong>Patrick Brown\u2019s<\/strong> team says it sold more than 150,000 memberships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rancorous:<\/strong> The race may be lively, but it is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=78REIb39wvs\">not entirely friendly<\/a>. <strong>Abbas Rana<\/strong> of the<em> Hill Times<\/em>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hilltimes.com\/2022\/06\/06\/the-rift-is-getting-bigger-and-bigger-some-conservatives-worried-about-party-unity-once-pretty-nasty-leadership-campaign-ends\/365292\">has been talking<\/a> to \u201cConservative political insiders\u201d who are rattled by the intensity of the rhetoric.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A senior Conservative, who spoke to<em>\u00a0The Hill Time<\/em>s on a not-for-attribution basis to offer their candid opinions, said that the divisive tone of the campaign has been a \u201chuge\u201d cause of concern for elected and unelected party officials. At the same time, this person said, there\u2019s no tool that the party or the Opposition Leader\u2019s Office has to stop this from h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening, other than to urge these candidates to exercise restraint. Former Reform Party leader<strong> Preston Manning<\/strong> and Alberta Premier <strong>Jason Kenney<\/strong> have called on all leadership candidates to focus only on policy differences and not take personal shots at each other.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Susan Delacourt<\/strong>, in the <em>Star<\/em>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/politics\/political-opinion\/2022\/06\/06\/interest-in-the-ontario-election-was-low-why-is-interest-in-the-conservative-leadership-race-so-high.html\">notes that<\/a> the recent Ontario election seemed to be much less interesting to people than the CPC leadership race.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brutal:<\/strong> Speaking of the Ontario election, Liberals there are struggling to understand why they did so poorly and what they should to change that in the future, the <em>Star<\/em> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/politics\/provincial\/2022\/06\/06\/that-was-pretty-devastating-ontario-liberals-wonder-how-to-rebuild-after-another-brutal-election-defeat.html\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hungrier:<\/strong> A poll conducted for Food Banks Canada suggests a growing number of Canadians are struggling with the rising cost of food, CP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/canada\/one-in-five-canadians-reported-going-hungry-due-to-rising-food-prices-1.5934570\">reports<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0The Mainstreet Research poll found almost a quarter of Canadians reported eating less than they should because there wasn\u2019t enough money for food.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unsafe:<\/strong> At a news conference on Monday, <strong>Justin Trudeau<\/strong> called the actions of Chinese pilots towards Canadian planes taking part in a UN mission \u201cirresponsible and provocative,\u201d CP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalnewswatch.com\/2022\/06\/06\/chinas-actions-toward-canadian-planes-provocative-and-irresponsible-trudeau-2\/#.Yp49QJ3MKUl\">reports<\/a>. Last week, the Canadian military accused Chinese planes of not following international safety norms on several occasions and putting a Canadian crew at risk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charges dropped:<\/strong> The Crown dropped tax evasion charges against former Calgary MP <strong>Rob Anders<\/strong> in Calgary on Monday on what was supposed to be the first day of a two-week tax evasion trial, CBC <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/calgary\/calgary-mp-conservative-party-rob-anders-tax-evasion-trial-1.6478465\">reports<\/a>. Prosecutor <strong>Tyler Lord<\/strong> said \u201cnew information\u201d led him to believe he \u201cno longer had a reasonable prospect of conviction.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Until Monday, Anders faced\u00a0five charges under the Income Tax Act for alleged activity between 2012 to\u00a02018, including three counts of making false or deceptive statements, obtaining a refund he was not entitled to and evading payment of taxes.\u00a0 Anders was accused of failing to report more than $750,000 in income over a six-year period including alleged offences\u00a0which overlapped with his time in government.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Not guilty plea:<\/strong> Federal public servant <strong>Matthew Matchett<\/strong> pleaded not guilty Monday to breach of trust for allegedly leaking secrets about a contract between the federal government and Chantier Davie shipyard in Quebec in November 2015, CP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nationalpost.com\/pmn\/news-pmn\/canada-news-pmn\/trial-set-to-start-for-federal-public-servant-charged-in-shipbuilding-leak-case\">reports<\/a>. Matchett, who was charged in February 2019, has elected to be tried by jury and the trial is expected to run four weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shake-up at CAPP:<\/strong> Three senior executives are out at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, the <em>Globe<\/em> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/business\/article-three-senior-executives-let-go-from-oil-sector-lobby-group\/\">reports<\/a>. <strong>Lisa Baiton<\/strong> recently took over from former president and CEO <strong>Tim McMillan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CSIS bill proposed:<\/strong> Liberal MP\u00a0<strong>Salma Zahid<\/strong> announced a plan Monday to introduce a bill that would set out new consequences for CSIS if the spies aren\u2019t forthcoming in their requests for judicial warrants, CP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/politics\/csis-duty-candour-zahid-1.6478831?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar\">reports<\/a>.\u00a0<strong>Zahid<\/strong>\u00a0was joined at the press conference by the National Council of Canadian Muslims.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Broad powers:<\/strong> In the <em>Globe<\/em>, <strong>Campbell Clark<\/strong>\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/politics\/article-quebec-bill-96-language-law\/\">is concerned<\/a> about the implications of broad new search powers in Quebec\u2019s Bill 96.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anglos unhappy:<\/strong> In Ottawa on Monday, Quebec anglophones told a parliamentary committee that Bill 96 will create a two-tier system in Quebec, <em>La Presse<\/em> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www-lapresse-ca.translate.goog\/actualites\/2022-06-06\/langues-officielles\/les-anglophones-du-quebec-craignent-un-regime-a-deux-vitesses.php?_x_tr_sl=auto&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en-US&amp;_x_tr_pto=wapp\">reports<\/a> (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www-lapresse-ca.translate.goog\/actualites\/2022-06-06\/langues-officielles\/les-anglophones-du-quebec-craignent-un-regime-a-deux-vitesses.php?_x_tr_sl=auto&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en-US&amp;_x_tr_pto=wapp\">translation<\/a>), and expressed disappointment over the federal government\u2019s actions on the file to date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So-con in the lead:<\/strong> In the <em>Calgary Herald<\/em>, <strong>Don Braid<\/strong> has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/calgaryherald.com\/opinion\/columnists\/braid-toews-distances-himself-from-kenney-pitches-to-rural-alberta\">an interesting column<\/a> about <strong>Travis Toews<\/strong>, the <strong>Jason Kenney<\/strong> loyalist who has rounded up plentiful caucus support for his leadership bid. Toews, though, is a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> conservative.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s been known since 2019 that he was on the board of a school that banned same-sex attachments, Ouija boards and even yoga, the latter being, it seems, proof of demonic intervention.
