\n Protesters blocked Immigration and Customs Enforcement buses from leaving with two detainees in Oregon Wednesday in a nearly 12-hour standoff that resulted in Border Patrol agents breaking up the crowd.<\/p>\n

The crowd flocked to a hotel parking lot in Bend, where the buses were parked, after a community activist went on Facebook<\/a> Live about the two men who were detained earlier in the morning, KTVZ reported.<\/p>\n

One of the men was taken into custody at a gas station, while the other was pulled over in his car, they told a translator while detained on the unmarked buses,\u00a0according to Oregon Public Broadcasting. They were not immediately identified.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Acting Department of Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli said the men who were arrested \u201ceach had a history of criminal violent behavior,\u201d without offering details.<\/p>\n

He said ICE agents were in Bend \u201cto arrest criminal aliens presenting a danger to public safety and take them off the street.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile ICE respects the rights of people to voice their opinion peacefully, that does not include illegally interfering with their federal law enforcement duties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cICE will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its officers and detainees, and will vigorously pursue prosecution against anyone who puts them in harm\u2019s way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bend police were on scene but said it does not enforce ICE arrests.<\/p>\n

Bend Mayor Sally Russell called on protesters to leave \u201cpeacefully.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been informed that both men being detained have warrants out for their arrest,\u201d she tweeted. \u201cThis is not a sweep for undocumented immigrants.\u201d<\/p>\n

Around 11 p.m., at least a dozen Border Patrol agents showed up \u2014 pepper-spraying three protesters as they app<\/a>roached the bus to guide out staff and the detainees.<\/p>\n

Bend police tweeted about an hour later that the protesters had left \u201cpeacefully\u201d and that the feds were no longer in the area.<\/p>\n

Portland-based nonprofit Innovation Law Lab has filed an emergency motion in federal court seeking to block the detainees from being removed, OBP reported.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
