href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technology<\/a> SA expects its podcasting unit to become profitable within the next couple of years, and its overall business to generate $100 billion in annual revenue within the next decade.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI believe our future is a lot bigger,\u201d Chief Executive Daniel Ek said Wednesday, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2022-06-08\/spotify-founder-and-ceo-daniel-eks-investor-day-2022-remarks\/\" class=\"icon none\">speaking at the company\u2019s investor day<\/a>. That would be massive growth: In 2021, the company took in $10.9 billion in revenue. Spotify shares<br \/>\n        SPOT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207488629\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+6.03%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       surged 6% on Wednesday after Ek\u2019s bullish forecast.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Spotify has sunk more than $1 billion into bolstering its podcasting business, which Ek said has been dragging down the company\u2019s gross margins.<\/p>\n<p>But Chief Financial Officer Paul Vogel said that investment will soon pay off, projecting profitability for podcasts in the next year or two and \u201cmeaningful ramp,\u201d with gross margins of 30% to 35% for podcasts, over the next three to five years. In the long term, Ek said podcasts could produce gross margins of 40% to 50%. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis drag will not last,\u201d Vogel said, according to a FactSet tran<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>, adding that podcasting revenue jumped more than 300% in 2021. \u201cWe are building a massive podcast audience, which is the foundation of monetizing our investments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ek said Spotify is still growing aggressively, aided by machine learning and technology, and mentioned audio books as another massive growth opportunity, with about $70 billion in annual revenue potential and margins above 40%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom everything I see, I believe that over the next decade, we will be a company that can generate\u00a0$100 billion in revenue annually, and that we can achieve a 40% gross margin and a 20% operating margin,\u201d Ek said.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify shares have tumbled 50% year to date, with investors souring on the company as growth unexpectedly slowed. In April, the company announced a decline in subscribers for the first time in a decade, sending shares to their lowest prices since going public.
