data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> political editor Chris Stirewalt said he will testify at the House select committee\u2019s next hearing about the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>Stirewalt, who was fired from Fox last year, made the announcement\u00a0on the NewsNation cable network, where he is currently the political editor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been called to testify before this committee, and I will do so on Monday,\u201d he said on air Friday. <\/p>\n<p>He told anchor Adrienne Bankert that he was \u201cnot in a position now to tell you what my testimony will be about,\u201d but said that he wanted to make a full disclosure.<\/p>\n<p>The committee has already indicated that it would examine how former President Trump\u2019s false election claims were spread in the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Stirewalt\u2019s announcement comes the day after the committee\u2019s first public hearing on the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, when hundreds of pro-Trump supporters broke through the doors and windows of the Capitol to disrupt Congress\u2019s confirmation of Joe Biden\u2019s victory in the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image Fox News did not broadcast the committee\u2019s first primetime hearing, Fox News Channel stuck with its usual lineup of opinion hosts during the hearing itself, including Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.<\/p>\n<p>Stirewalt was fired from Fox News in January 2021, in what the network called a restructuring at the time. But Stirewalt later\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2021-01-28\/fox-news-chris-stirewalt-firing-arizona\">wrote in the Los Angeles Times that he was canned by the network<\/a>\u00a0after defending Fox News\u2019 decision to\u00a0call the important swing-state of Arizona for Joe Biden\u00a0on Election Night. The call marked the first major signal that Trump would lose his bid for re-election.  <\/p>\n<p>In turn, Trump\u2019s camp demanded the network retract what it claimed was a premature call. When the network refused, it triggered backlash by the candidate and his supporters.<\/p>\n<p>In his <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2021-01-28\/fox-news-chris-stirewalt-firing-arizona\">LA Times op-ed<\/a>, Stirewalt, without calling out Fox News, said media \u201chype men\u201d helped push the false narrative that the election was stolen from Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying,\u201d he wrote. \u201cBut it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Rupert Murdoch, who controls Fox News\u2019 parent company,\u00a0told The Washington Post\u00a0that Stirewalt\u2019s firing \u201chad nothing to do with the correct Arizona call by the Fox decision desk.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
