If your Windows 8 or 10 system can\u2019t boot properly, the tools will <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear automatically so you can fix the problem.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve covered several ways to access the advanced startup options if your PC is working properly, including through the PC settings application. You can also create a recovery drive to ensure you\u2019ll always be able to access these options.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Choose_an_Option\"><\/span>Choose an Option<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve accessed the advanced startup options, you\u2019ll need to click (or tap) the Troubleshoot option to access the troubleshooting and repair options. This is particularly useful if you want to refresh or reset your PC, but can\u2019t get into Windows.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Refresh your PC<\/strong>: Refreshing your PC restores its system software to its factory state without deleting your files or installed Modern apps. However, any installed desktop apps will be removed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reset your PC<\/strong>: Resetting your PC (not to be confused with rebooting your PC) resets it to its factory state. Any personal files and settings on your computer will be deleted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you just want to fix your computer and you\u2019re not sure which option to pick, try Refreshing your PC so you don\u2019t lose all your files.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/image150.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"459\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>For more advanced troubleshooting and repair tools, click (or tap) \u201cAdvanced Options.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Troubleshoot_on_Windows_10\"><\/span>Troubleshoot on Windows 10<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Troubleshoot screen is a bit different on Windows 10. The \u201cRefresh your PC\u201d feature has consolidated into the \u201cReset your PC\u201d feature.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-809920\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/w10resetthispc.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"500\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Reset this PC screen has two options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Keep My<\/strong> <strong>Files<\/strong>: Keep my files is equivalent to Refresh my PC on Windows 8 and 8.1. Everything related to Windows gets completely reinstalled, all of your installed programs are removed, but files located in your user folder are saved.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remove<\/strong> <strong>Everything<\/strong>: Remove everything does exactly that \u2014 it removes everything. Windows is completely reinstalled, all of your programs are removed, and all of your files are deleted. It fulfills the same function \u201cReset this PC\u201d on Windows 8 and 8.1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you aren\u2019t sure which to use, click \u201cKeep My Files\u201d first. Windows will be reinstalled, but most of your files will be saved. You can always come back later and click \u201cRemove Everything\u201d if you want.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Files located in AppData or outside of your user folder will not be saved. Be sure to back up these files manually.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-809928\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/W10keeporremovefiles.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"500\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Click \u201cAdvanced Options\u201d to access more advanced repair tools. They\u2019ll be useful if you\u2019re experiencing problems but don\u2019t want to reinstall Windows.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Advanced_Options\"><\/span>Advanced Options<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Advanced options screen holds the advanced troubleshooting and repair options.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-809934\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/advanced-options-w10.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"The Advanced Options available on Windows 10. \" width=\"650\" height=\"482\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>System Restore<\/strong>: Restore your computer to an earlier restore point. This is the same as using System Restore within Windows. However, if Windows 8 can\u2019t boot, it may boot properly after you restore your PC to a working state.<\/li>\n<li><strong>System Image Recovery<\/strong>: Restore your computer using a system image file. The system image overwrites your computer\u2019s state and files. You\u2019ll need to use Windows 7\u2019s backup tools in Windows 8 to create a system image.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Automatic Repair<\/strong>: Try to automatically repair issues that can prevent Windows from booting properly. If your computer can\u2019t boot into Windows, this option is worth a try.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Command Prompt<\/strong>: Open a Recovery Environment Command Prompt. This will allow you to run a variety of commands to troubleshoot and fix your computer. This option should only be used by advanced users who know what they\u2019re doing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Startup Settings<\/strong>: The Startup Settings option allows you to modify a number of startup options. For example, you can enable Safe Mode from here. You can also disable automatic restart after failure \u2014 this option will allow you to see the error message if your PC is constantly blue-screening and rebooting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Uninstall Updates<\/strong>: Removes the most recently installed updates. If your computer started malfunctioning im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely after an update, this is the first thing you should try.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"image\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/image152.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"The Startup Settings options available on Windows 10. \" width=\"650\" height=\"596\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The advanced options here may allow you to fix the problem \u2014 the Automatic Repair option is particularly useful, and the System Restore or Safe Mode options may help you boot your computer.
