Here\u2019s how to prevent that from happening.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Disable_Wi-Fi_Assist\"><\/span>Disable Wi-Fi Assist<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Since iOS 9, iPhones have included a feature called \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/230056\/what-is-wi-fi-assist-and-how-do-you-turn-it-off\/\">Wi-Fi Assist\u201d that automatically switches from Wi-Fi to a cellular data connection when your Wi-Fi signal gets too weak. When the cellular data icon is grey, cellular data has been disabled. To do so, open Settings and tap \u201cCellular.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Settings &gt; Cellular, scroll down and you\u2019ll see a list of apps installed on your iPhone. But at least you won\u2019t be charged extra for it.
