Olumiant blocks the activity of a family of enzymes that inflames the attack, the FDA said.<\/p>\n<p>In randomized trials, more than a third of patients that took 4 milligrams of the drug every day increased their scalp hair coverage from 50 percent to 80 percent, researchers said.<\/p>\n<p>Side effects include upper respiratory tract infections, headache, acne, high cholesterol, weight gain, shingles and urinary tract infection, among others, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOlumiant is also approved for the treatment of COVID-19 in certain hospitalized adults,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>Alopecia made headlines earlier this year when <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/06\/01\/jada-pinkett-smith-hopes-will-smith-chris-rock-will-reconcile\/?_ga=2.129222597.854746178.1655148581-1689051027.1639583414\">Will Smith rushed the stage<\/a> of the Academy Awards to assault Chris Rock after the comic made a barb about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith\u2019s baldness, which is caused by the condition.<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
