alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Joe Kahn, the New York Times executive editor who took over the Gray Lady\u2019s top job on Tuesday, thinks journalists should not use <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> to \u201cvet grievances.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Kahn, who succeeds Dean Baquet at the helm of the influential broadsheet, also lamented that journalists were avoiding \u201clightning-rod type\u201d stories due to fear of a backlash they would receive from readers on social media.<\/p>\n<p>The 57-year-old Kahn told The Washington Post that some reporters at the Times \u201cdon\u2019t even want to engage in certain kinds of stories because they anticipate the reaction that they\u2019ll get from writing on, reporting on, a story that tends to be a lightning-rod type issue on Twitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kahn said that he supported his predecessor\u2019s policy encouraging staffers to spend less time on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Baquet circulated a memo to Times reporters and editors, telling them that maintaining a Twitter account is \u201cpurely optional\u201d after staffers reportedly raised concerns over being targeted by internet trolls.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img forum for the public to criticize journalists as well as one in which reporters criticize each other as well as their bosses.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Last week, The Washington Post fired political reporter Felicia Sonmez after she blasted her colleagues and the paper\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Sonmez, who had been at the paper for a decade, made headlines the week before when she blasted fellow political reporter Dave Weigel for retweeting a sexist joke.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Weigel subsequently apologized and was suspended\u00a0without pay for a month. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Washington Post Executive Editor Sally Buzbee warned reporters to maintain a \u201ccollegial\u201d workplace and\u00a0refrain from attacking colleagues on Twitter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Sonmez took to the social media platform several times to blast Post reporters who sent out tweets praising the Jeff Bezos-owned paper as a \u201ccollegial\u201d workplace and \u201cdownplaying the Post\u2019s workplace issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div Katie Robertson tweeted on Tuesday that the Washington Post will issue a revised set of social media guidelines to staffers on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Post executives will also hold \u201clistening sessions\u201d with newsroom personnel over the next few days in order to give employees a chance to provide input, according to Robertson.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img
