On MacBooks and desktop Macs, there\u2019s an equivalent function called Screenshot that\u2019s even easier to use. All you need are a few keyboard shortcuts!<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bringing_Up_the_Screenshot_Toolbar\"><\/span>Bringing Up the Screenshot Toolbar<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bringing up the capture tool is easy, simply hold Shift+Command+5 and it will <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear on the bottom of your primary display. If you have a MacBook with a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/309820\/five-useful-things-you-can-do-with-the-macbook-pros-touch-bar\/\">Touch Bar, these controls are also replicated there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-808617\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Macos-Screenshot-Bar.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"500\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>From left to right there are five capture options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Capture a screenshot of an entire screen.<\/li>\n<li>Capture a selected window,<\/li>\n<li>Capture a portion of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Start a video recording of an entire screen.<\/li>\n<li>Start a video recording of a portion of a screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are all of the capture options that macOS offers.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Using_the_Screenshot_Toolbar\"><\/span>Using the Screenshot Toolbar<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To make use of any of these features, click on the button that corresponds to the type of capture you need. Using the tool this way is a two-step process. First, you\u2019ll select the type of capture, and then you\u2019ll either use the mouse pointer to complete the capture or click on the Capture button on the far right of the tool.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-808628\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Macos-Capture-SCreen.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Capturing the entire screen in MacOS\" width=\"650\" height=\"500\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>If you select \u201cCapture the Entire Screen,\u201d then click on \u201cCapture,\u201d you\u2019ll hear an audio confirmation of the capture and see a thumbnail in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. You can click on the thumbnail directly to edit the shot or wait a few seconds for it to disappear. The image will be saved to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/678073\/how-to-quickly-show-your-desktop-on-mac\/\">the desktop by default, although you can change the save location.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re using a multi-monitor setup, you need to move the mouse pointer to the screen you wish to capture. As you move it across windows they will highlight. Click on the highlighted window to capture it as a screenshot. Click and drag to highlight a portion of the screen. You can use the nodes on the highlighted portion to resize it, or click and drag anywhere inside the highlighted area to move the entire selection. If you want to directly take a screenshot press Shift+Command+3.
