Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eals court Wednesday \u2014 all but assuring he\u2019ll die behind bars.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Victor \u201cLittle Vic\u201d Orena\u2019s appeal for compassionate release was slapped down by a three-judge panel from the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, which sided with a lower-court jurist in affirming his life sentence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Orena, once the acting boss of the Colombos, was sentenced to life in prison in the early 1990s after his conviction in Brooklyn federal court on murder, racketeering and other Mafia-related crimes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The former shot-caller, now 87, asked a Brooklyn federal judge to free him in 2021 because of his deteriorating health \u2014 and because his lawyer discovered new evidence that allegedly casts doubt on his conviction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the appeals court panel wrote that while even federal prosecutors agree his health issues are \u201cextraordinary and compelling,\u201d the district court judge correctly ruled they do not outweigh the need for a life sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The judges also ruled that if there is indeed new evidence that proves Orena\u2019s innocence, it should be raised in a separate appeal \u2014 not one for compassionate release.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/victor-orena-005.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Victor &quot;Little Vic&quot; More than a dozen people were killed in the beef.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe five Families\u2019 criminal activities and the war between the competing Colombo factions resulted in multiple assassinations and attempted assassinations and billions of dollars of economic impact on the city,\u201d the appeals court panel wrote in the decision Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Orena is serving time in FMC Devens, a federal medical center with an attached minimum-security prison.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His attorney did not im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely respond to request for comment.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
