The company hosted an Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reddit<\/a> earlier today, revealing a few details about the company\u2019s upcoming plans.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"No_Matter_For_Existing_Products\"><\/span>No Matter For Existing Products<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There has been excitement around the upcoming \u2018Matter\u2019 smart home ecosystem, which aims to unify and simplify setup and management tools for smart home products. The end goal is for any Matter-certified device to work with any other Matter-compatible hubs and devices, removing the headaches around compatibility that exist today.<\/p>\n<p>However, Wyze isn\u2019t expecting to bring Matter support to its existing products. When asked about updating Wyze devices to work with Matter, Wyze\u00a0Product VP Steve McIrvin said in a Reddit comment today, \u201cthat\u2019s unlikely due to the requirements of running both the Wyze firmware stack and a Matter-compatible firmware image. We\u2019ve been down several paths on this strategy and the most likely scenario is that we\u2019ll need to introduce new products with higher resource limits (especially flash memory and RAM) to support Matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company is also still investigating how to bring its cameras into the Matter ecosystem.\u00a0McIrvin said, \u201cthe biggest obstacle for us, as you might have guessed, is that there\u2019s really no definition yet for cameras in the Matter guidelines. It\u2019s not one of the two dozen or so categories that they have defined yet. There is a working group that is just now being formed, so we intend to participate in that.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Upcoming_Products\"><\/span>Upcoming Products<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Wyze has released new products at a rapid rate over the past few years, so it\u2019s not too surprising that the company has more in the pipeline. The first one is a\u00a0Matter-compatible product, which will be available \u201cin just a few months,\u201d but it\u2019s not clear what type of device it will be.<\/p>\n<p>Steve McIrvin also confirmed a smart light switch is in the works that won\u2019t require a neutral wire. Smart switches are a popular way to add smart controls to light fixtures, especially in cases where smart light bulbs aren\u2019t practical, but they usually require a neutral wire in the wall for power input \u2014 something many homes don\u2019t have. McIrvin said on Reddit, \u201ca\u00a0large percentage of houses in the US were built before neutral wiring was required, so we\u2019ll have a pretty innovative solution to address those houses in the next few months (certainly before the end of the year).\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Other_Information\"><\/span>Other Information<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The most-upvoted question in the AMA asked about the status of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.wyze.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360026245231-Wyze-Cam-RTSP\">Wyze\u2019s\u00a0RTSP firmware<\/a>, which was beta software that allowed Wyze cameras to be monitored using the standard\u00a0Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP), instead of proprietary local or cloud-based solutions. Steve McIrvin said, \u201cThe reason we took it down was because we had not been able to keep it fully in synch with the changes we had rolled out to the rest of our firmware images.
