You can see, their swings tell you it all. According to Elias Sports Bureau, that marks the second-longest single-season scoreless streak by a Yankees pitcher in the last 33 seasons, trailing only Mariano Rivera\u2019s 30 \u00b2\/\u2083-inning scoreless streak in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I\u2019ve been in a good spot, especially with my sinker,\u201d Holmes said Wednesday. \u201cIt\u2019s been nice just to find some consistency and help the team win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"no\" height=\"200\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/playlist.megaphone.fm\/?e=NYPH3173520815&amp;light=true\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Whether Holmes\u2019 role will change when Chapman returns from the IL \u2014 the lefty threw a second bullpen Tuesday in his comeback from Achilles tendinitis \u2014 remains to be seen. Chapman was struggling even before he went on the IL and Holmes had stepped up to record four saves before Chapman was sidelined.<\/p>\n<p>Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Holmes will do \u201ca little of everything\u201d when Chapman is healthy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019ll be closing some games too,\u201d Boone said. \u201cBasically he\u2019s going to find himself in a lot of the toughest parts of the lineup. Opposing hitters are batting just .171 against the simker with a slugging percentage of .183. The sinker\u2019s run value \u2014 a metric by Baseball Savant that quantifies the impact of a specific pitch \u2014 is minus-12, which ranks as the second-most valuable pitch by any major leaguer this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s got the sinker metrically in such a good spot that he feels confident throwing it in the zone in any count to any hitter,\u201d said teammate Jameson Taillon, who also played with Holmes in Pittsburgh. \u201cLike in our [pitchers] meeting, we\u2019ll have hitters we go over where it\u2019s like, \u2018Maybe a sinker\u2019s not good to this guy or up is better than down.\u2019 But for Clay, none of that matters because his pitch is such an outlier that he can throw it whenever he wants to whoever.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
