\n Michael Bloomberg \u2014 who spent nearly $1 billion in a failed bid for the Democratic presidential nomination \u2014 said he will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention next week, according to a report.<\/p>\n

The former three-term New York City Mayor announced his upcoming app<\/a>earance in an email to supporters Thursday saying he plans to explain \u201cwhy we have the best candidates to meet today\u2019s challenges and get big things done,\u201d according to a report by the Daily Beast.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg, 78 \u2014 who is the founder of financial media<\/a> company Bloomberg LP, is one of the richest men in the world with an estimated worth of $65 billion \u2014 made a surprise run for the primary spot only appearing on the ballot for the first time on March 3.<\/p>\n

The former Republican and gun-control advocate withdrew from the race when it became clear it was dead in the water after Super Tuesday with his only win coming from American Samoa, a small US territory in the South Pacific.<\/p>\n

After, Bloomberg gave the DNC $18 million and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for President.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
