ground \u2014 which would end a safety protocol put in place in the wake of the assassination of two police officers nearly a decade ago. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are determined to single patrol,\u201d Adams said Friday morning. \u201cWhat that is going to allow us to do is now utilize our resources in the omnipresence that we have been talking about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we made every patrol a dual patrol, we cut our department basically in half,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Adams said the move was not a budget decision but came from Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell\u2019s internal review. <\/p>\n<p>The partnered patrols were initiated in 2014 to add a layer of safety for cops after NYPD Officers\u00a0Wenjian Liu\u00a0and\u00a0Rafael Ramos were ambushed in broad daylight while sitting in a marked police car on a Brooklyn street corner. <\/p>\n<p>It was unclear when the shift would start, but the move was already facing blowback by Friday afternoon from the NYPD\u2019s largest police union in one of its first public criticisms of the Adams administration.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" Police Department, File<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cSolo transit patrols were abandoned because they make it harder for cops to protect straphangers and ourselves,\u201d PBA president Patrick Lynch said. \u201cThey\u2019re even less effective now that criminals know there are no consequences for fighting cops and resisting arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One cop said the mayor\u2019s characterization was a bit misleading and believed it was a clear move to cut down on overtime in transit, where cops can log 40 to 60 hours of extra pay each month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re really not single [patrols] since they\u2019re across the platform in view of their partner,\u201d the source said. \u201cThey can\u2019t stand next to each other and be on the same platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They added the change was aimed at reducing cops clustering on subway platforms. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" unrelated press conference in the Bronx, a Post reporter spotted at least seven cops huddled together at the Third Avenue\u2013149th Street station.<\/p>\n<p>Other rank-and-file cops were \u201cpissed\u201d and taken by surprise by the mayor\u2019s comments. <\/p>\n<p>The NYPD did not im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\"
