\n WASHINGTON \u2014 President Trump on Thursday compared Sen. Kamala Harris to his 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton \u2014 brutally describing her as a shallow opportunist who stands for nothing during an interview with The Post in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n

The president also tore apart Harris\u2019 polarizing criminal justice record, accusing Joe Biden\u2019s new running mate of being \u201cextremely bad to the black community.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a bad version of Hillary. She\u2019s a person that will say whatever is necessary and in the end in gets her in trouble,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think she changes her policy, she changes her tune, for every race, depending on who she needs. She\u2019s a user and she\u2019s not a talented politician,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Clinton was dogged by claims she was inauthentic and struggled to portray herself as genuine to voters during her failed 2016 White House bid.<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s reelection campaign has been quick to tar the California senator as a dangerous radical after Democratic nominee Joe Biden on Tuesday announced Harris as his running mate, citing her progressive record in Congress where she co-sponsored Sen. Bernie Sander\u2019s Medicare for All bill.<\/p>\n

But Trump said voters needed to look at her divisive tough-on-crime past as a California prosecutor where she failed to overturn unfair convictions, charged parents of habitually truant children and oversaw more than 1,900 marijuana convictions.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer record was terrible,’\u201d Trump said. \u201cIt\u2019s very interesting, she\u2019s said to be the most liberal person in Congress, she\u2019s rated the single-most liberal, and yet the progressives hate her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris sold herself as a \u201cprogressive prosecutor\u201d while in Congress and makes history as the first black woman elected by a major party for national office.<\/p>\n

But former Bernie Sanders campaign staffers, including his national spokeswoman Briahna Joy Gray, this week publicly accused Harris of \u201copportunistic flip-flopping\u201d and condemned her addition to the Democratic ticket.<\/p>\n

Trump himself recalled a now-infamous debate stage exchange last July where Rep. Tulsi Gabbard ripped Harris\u2019 criminal justice record as the California attorney general<\/a> and San Francisco district attorney.<\/p>\n

\u201cTulsi Gabbard, she talked about how she doesn\u2019t stand for anything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s been extremely bad to the black community, extremely bad to the black community,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

The president also repeated claims that \u201cnobody was meaner or nastier to Joe Biden\u201d than Harris, referring to the moment Harris attacked Biden for working with segregationists to oppose busing in the 1970s.<\/p>\n
