Unlike a loan, invested capital does\u2019t have to be paid back in the event of business failure. And most angel investors understand business, and therefore take a long-term view.<\/p>\n<p>Co-panelist Tessa Wanders, investor at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/vnv.global\/\">VNV global<\/a>, elaborated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We consider ourselves an angel syndicate.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re not calling ourselves a fund and that really changes the dynamic in the way we invest. We are really aligned with the founders and we don\u2019t see the IPO as an exit moment, but a milestone \u2014 we keep investing as long as we see a growth opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>This doesn\u2019t mean, however, that founders should welcome every and any angel investor.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Wanders, a founder herself in the beginning of her career, noted:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I should have been more selective with investors. As a founder you\u2019re in selling mode, but it\u2019s also important to flip the table and ask what they can do for you.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mills offered the same advice:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>When cooperating with angels it\u2019s absolutely critical to know what they\u2019re looking to get out of your business.
