His wife, Marianne, confirmed his death <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lapresse.ca\/cinema\/2022-06-17\/deces-de-l-acteur-jean-louis-trintignant.php\">to Agence France-Presse<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>He is perhaps best known for his work in art house cinema, including \u201cA Man and a Woman,\u201d \u201cMy Night at Maud\u2019s,\u201d \u201cThe Conformist,\u201d \u201cThree Colors: Red\u201d and \u201cAmour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His 60-year career led to more than 130 screen credits and at least 50 stage roles, spanning Shakespeare to French comedy.<\/p>\n<p>In 1969, Trintignant was awarded Cannes\u2019 best actor prize for political thriller\u00a0\u201cZ,\u201d helmed by famed Greek director Costa-Gavras.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, in 2013, he earned France\u2019s Cesar Award for Michael Haneke\u2019s \u201cAmour,\u201d which went on to win the Oscar that year for best foreign-language film.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img
