\n President Trump on Thursday said he wants his 14-year-old son Barron to return to school soon.<\/p>\n

Barron Trump\u2019s private school in Maryland, St. Andrew\u2019s Episcopal School, recently said it will have online-only classes next month, despite the president urging schools to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to have him go back and I understand they\u2019re gonna go \u2014 they\u2019re doing computer for a little while, they\u2019re doing the laptop deal. And, you know, it\u2019s too bad,\u201d Trump told The Post during an exclusive Oval Office interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d prefer that he go back. They\u2019re doing it, I think, just a little bit \u2014 they\u2019re delaying it a little bit, right? From what I understand, my son\u2019s school, they will be delaying it. I just heard that, which is too bad, which is too bad,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

The president on Wednesday said that schools must reopen because \u201cvirtual is not as good as being there \u2014 virtual is just not the same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked if would be hiring a tutor for Barron, who is set to start ninth grade, Trump said, \u201cprobably will. Either that, or I don\u2019t know \u2014 he likes the school very much. You know, so we just sort of leave him at a school he likes, and it\u2019s a good school and they\u2019ve done a very nice job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they\u2019re doing a delayed start,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI don\u2019t run the school, and they\u2019ve done a really good job. But I would prefer that he went back right at the beginning, if it was up to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump administration health officials last month\u00a0outlined recommended best practices for reopening schools, encouraging masks, lots of cleaning and the strategic limiting of social<\/a> interactions.<\/p>\n

Administration officials argue that children are less susceptible to the virus, though\u00a0Trump urged elderly teachers to stay home.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
