Washington died at a hospital hours after rescuers faced driving rain, blowing snow, and winds gusting to over 80 mph to reach him, conservation officers said.<\/p>\n<p>The hiker was rescued from Gulfside Trail on Saturday night. Washington<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">NH Fish and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> Law Enforcement<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fish and Game Department officers said they heard from his wife, who said she received a text from Chen saying he was cold and wet and couldn\u2019t continue on. \u201cHe further wrote that he felt he would die without a rescue,\u201d the department said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> release.<\/p>\n<p>Conservation officers received multiple rescue calls that day from hikers who were on the high-elevation summits and ridgelines of the Presidential Range.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conditions in the high peaks were treacherous,\u201d the news release said.<\/p>\n<p>Rescuers carried Chen over a mile up to the summit of Mt. Washington, where he was placed on a truck and driven down the mountain\u2019s auto road, to a hospital in Berlin.
