As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 5,700 Reddit users commented on the post.<\/p>\n<p>A Reddit user who goes by the handle u\/TheMonsher authored a post titled \u201cDoorDash is asking for my sexual orientation for a job application.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attached screenshot shows a drop-down menu with options for pronouns and sexual orientation.<\/p>\n<p>A DoorDash spokesperson told The Post that the company is seeking to \u201ccreate a culture of belonging\u201d by \u201cworking to ensure that diverse identities and perspectives are being valued and represented here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DoorDash began asking applicants to state their sexual orientation and gender and pronounce preference in 2020, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/DoorDash-04.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"The job applicant posted a screenshot on the web site Reddit, where it went viral over the weekend.\" class=\"wp-image-22742989\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/DoorDash-04.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/DoorDash-04.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/DoorDash-04.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>The job applicant posted a screenshot on Reddit, where it went viral over the weekend.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">DoorDash<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThese data are collected in aggregate and kept confidential,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we encourage applicants to share personal demographic data if they are comfortable, all applicants have the option to select \u2018I don\u2019t wish to answer\u2019 for all questions,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>The applicant, u\/TheMonsher, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/doordash-application-asking-applicants-sexual-orientation-causes-stir-1717647\">told Newsweek<\/a> that he initially applied for the position on LinkedIn.
