\n A Connecticut prisoner hanged himself Thursday using a cloth mask distributed to inmates to help protest against coronavirus.<\/p>\n

Daniel Ocasio, 32, was found by guards Wednesday morning sitting on his cell bunk at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center with a ligature tied around his neck, the Department of Corrections said.<\/p>\n

The ligature was made from one of the distributed face masks.<\/p>\n

Ocasio\u2019s death was ruled a suicide by the medical examiner\u2019s office, The New York Times reported.<\/p>\n

Ocasio had been at the prison since Aug. 5. He was being held on $10,000 bond for a burglary.<\/p>\n

His death is being investigated by state police and prison officials.<\/p>\n
