Oklahoma Theater Warns Audience It Will \u2018Fast-Forward\u2019 Through Lightyear&#8217;s Same-Sex Kiss!<br \/>\n&#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\" class=\"text\">\nIt\u2019s 2022 and for some reason people are still mad over the representation of same-sex relationships in the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>. <strong>Pixar<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Lightyear<\/em> hit theaters last weekend \u2014 and it\u2019s bringing out the worst in some folks!<\/p>\n<p>As you probably know, <strong>Disney<\/strong> has a long history of controversy surrounding its lack of LGBTQ+ representation. They\u2019ve snuck in tiny glimpses here and there of same-sex couples, such as the alleged lesbian couples fans spotted in <em>Finding Dory<\/em> and<em> Toy Story 4, <\/em>and in 2017 they teased an \u201cexclusively gay moment\u201d that ended up being a SHORT shot of <strong>Josh Gad<\/strong>\u2019s character in <em>Beauty and the Beast<\/em> dancing with another man right before the credits rolled. Sigh.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, everyone\u2019s favorite mouse has walked a fine line with gay representation for a long time! So much so, fans have often been left feeling dis<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed and underrepresented with the company\u2019s light footwork.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the announcement of their newest Pixar flick however, the mass media entertainment company revealed <em>Lightyear<\/em> would feature a same-sex kiss \u2014 a huge step in the right direction. Of course, it was met with TONS of unjust backlash, and at one point Disney even announced they cut the scene altogether \u2014 much to the disappointment of fans who looked forward to the representation they\u2019d been waiting on for so long!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sam Elliott Apologizes For His Homophobic Rant About <em>Power Of The Dog<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In March, Florida passed the \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay\u201d bill, which took the state in a scary direction for LGBTQ+ rights. Home to Walt Disney World, fans and employees alike quickly took notice of the company\u2019s lack of response to the law which forbids schools from \u201cdiscussing or promoting topics surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity\u201d. Following a major social media scandal and a HUGE staff walkout, Disney released a statement in support of the LGBTQ+ community. They also decided to reinstate the same-sex kiss scene, opting to take the financial loss \u2014 better late than never, we guess?<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, when the kiss scene was brought back, so was the negative attention. People all over the country expressed their bitterness online \u2014 and one Oklahoma theater brought their ridiculousness to the ticketbooth! The <strong>89er Theatre<\/strong> posted a sign on the front door of their business that read:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWARNING. Attention Parents: The management of this theatre discovered after booking \u201cLightyear\u201d that there is a same-sex kissing scene within the first 30 minutes of the Pixar movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Really?! A warning to parents over a happy same-sex couple?! WTF!<\/p>\n<p>The business\u2019s sign then went on to add the promise that they would \u201cfast forward\u201d the scene and apologized for any \u201cinconveniences\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe will do all we can to fast-forward through that scene, but it might not be exact. We apologize for any inconvenience this late discovery of this scene causes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is the most absurd thing ever! The owner of 89er Theatre is reportedly refusing to speak on camera to anyone (shocker!) but told <em>KOCO 5 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> <\/em>that they removed the sign and insists they \u201cnever actually fast forwarded through any showing of the movie.\u201d Hmm\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Look, the fact this sign was made in the first place is unbelievable! If this business owner never faced any backlash, would they have removed the sign? Or would they just continue along with its blatant homophobia?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex Wade<\/strong>, the deputy director of Oklahomans for Equality, told <em>NBC News<\/em> that he was \u201cnot shocked to see something like this happening\u201d in the state:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhen same-sex couples show affection, even the most chaste of kisses, it is sexualized and treated as if it were explicit. If this were a heterosexual couple, the theater would never even think of skipping it, because heterosexual couples are given the grace to be intimate without being shamed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>How infuriating that things like this are still happening!
