Wade<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>Rita Moreno<\/strong> has opened up about her own scary experience with having a botched abortion.<\/p>\n<p>As you know, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision, which protected abortion as a constitutional right, has been overturned. An absolutely horrific decision made against women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p>Many celebrities and politicians alike have voiced their sadness and rage at the undoing of <em>Roe<\/em> \u2014 which im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely triggered laws making abortion illegal in many states. But Rita has a whole story to tell\u2026<\/p>\n<p>As you may know, the living legend had a tumultuous relationship in the \u201950s and \u201960s with <strong>Marlon Brando<\/strong>, her co-star in the 1969 movie <em>The Night of the Following Day<\/em>. Their relationship was a difficult one; earlier this year she revealed she was so mistreated by him that she attempted to take her own life during their whirlwind romance. But in this particular story, he did everything he could.<\/p>\n<p>Rita opened up about her time with <em>The Godfather<\/em> star in her 2011 documentary<em> Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided To Go For It<\/em>. She revealed that years before the 1973 ruling she\u2019d had an abortion after becoming pregnant with Marlon\u2019s child. She recalled that he \u201csent her\u201d to get the procedure done:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMarlon found a doctor through some friends. He was a real doctor \u2014 Marlon paid him $500 \u2014 as opposed to something in a back alley.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She said once the procedure was done, she went back home and \u201cbegan to bleed\u201d. As it turns out, the doctor that cost about $6,000 in today\u2019s money didn\u2019t perform a full abortion:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMarlon took me to the hospital. I had what they told me was a \u2018disturbed pregnancy\u2019. The doctor didn\u2019t do anything really, except make me bleed. In other words, he didn\u2019t do it right. I didn\u2019t know it then, but I could have died. What a mess. What a dreadful mess.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>How scary! This is why abortion clinics are so vital! Botched surgeries like these can be so dangerous \u2014 and this one was extremely expensive too! This is the type of thing that absolutely will start up again in areas where young women have no safe options.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, the <em>West Side Story<\/em> actress expressed her sadness with Friday\u2019s ruling, saying that she felt \u201cdepressed\u201d over the situation. She did, however, admit she \u201cisn\u2019t completely surprised.\u201d She wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHilary Clinton warned everybody about this. I\u2019m not shocked because I saw it coming but I\u2019m stunned \u2026 I think about the young girls. Taking it to the most extreme, girls who get pregnant because of rape or incest. Unfair isn\u2019t a strong enough word, but it\u2019s unfair.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>We agree with you, Rita! \u201cUnfair\u201d doesn\u2019t even begin to explain our feelings about this nightmarish offense on women\u2019s rights. She later added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe loud mouths are going to have to get busy. There are many of us. I\u2019m thinking what are we going to do about this? If anything, this has reactivated us.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems like nothing is going to stop the 90-year-old actress from fighting against this injustice!
