Lots of hearings, advocacy and lobby groups weighing in, and as this column goes to press, her nomination is about where it was when it started: In purgatory.<\/p>\n<p>In case you don\u2019t remember, Joe Biden nominated Sohn to the FCC because of her impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9 and progressive street cred. What didn\u2019t get picked up in Sleepy Joe\u2019s vetting process (Surprise!) are some of her toxic positions that have angered people with real influence in DC. They\u2019ve raised questions about whether she can make fact-based decisions over a huge swath of the US economy.<\/p>\n<p>More chilling is what Sohn\u2019s travails say about the Biden administration\u2019s incompetence on issues large and small. Sorry, if you can\u2019t get a simple nomination to a regulatory agency right, there\u2019s no way you\u2019re going to fix what ails the $25 trillion US economy like surging inflation and a looming recession.<\/p>\n<p>Like most Bidenesque fails, this one was completely avoidable. No one is questioning Sohn\u2019s knowledge of the issues: She\u2019s a Georgetown law professor and a longtime telecom expert who served in the Obama White House. It\u2019s her politics that makes Sohn a near non-starter for her necessary Senate confirmation. She\u2019s a staunch advocate of lefty edicts including net neutrality, which essentially treats Internet providers as utilities, forcing them to provide content free of charge. That puts her in conflict with at least half the 50-50 Senate who believe such oversight will stifle innovation and actually drive consumer costs higher.<\/p>\n<p>Adding further doubt is Sohn\u2019s problematic <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> trail on some hot-button issues the Biden \u00adpeople could have found if they cared enough to do a simple \u00adGoogle search.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/JoeBiden-7.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"President Joe Biden \" class=\"wp-image-22809153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/JoeBiden-7.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/JoeBiden-7.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/JoeBiden-7.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>President Joe Biden has proven to rarely vet his nominees as long as they\u2019re progressives.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">EPA\/Yuri Gripas\/POOL<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One example: She attacked my employer, Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>, as \u201cdangerous to our democracy.\u201d I know it\u2019s not exactly unheard of for the libs to hate on us. But as an FCC commissioner she needs to follow the administrative code that demands some degree of impartiality in rulemaking on regulated entities like Fox.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Her_alleged_%E2%80%98nonprofit\"><\/span>Her alleged \u2018nonprofit\u2019<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>And what about the First Amendment issues involving the government telling the public what content is dangerous? My sources say plenty of people in the Senate, including moderate Dems like Joe Manchin of West Virginia, are asking those same questions.<\/p>\n<p>Then look up the travails of an outfit known as Locast. Sohn was a board member with the alleged nonprofit created to provide local programming to people who can\u2019t afford cable. Yet it is opposing Sohn\u2019s nomination because her \u201csocial media, public policy stances and employment history have indicated serious animus towards law enforcement officers and the rule of law.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Summer-of-love_lefty\"><\/span>Summer-of-love lefty<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As it turns out, Sohn wasn\u2019t content on focusing her Twitter vitriol on Fox hating. She also liked and retweeted posts that got behind the defund-the-police movement during our 2020 \u201csummer of love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sohn says she understands that she must comport herself differently at the FCC, and who knows, maybe Sleepy Joe will twist Manchin\u2019s arm just enough to get him to vote yes. Still, my sources on Capitol Hill say the opposition from the cops could be the final straw. Dems don\u2019t want to be seen supporting anyone who supports the politically toxic defund movement.<\/p>\n<p>That puts the Biden administration in another self-inflicted bind. Sohn is filling an open seat. If the White House ditches her for a moderate, it angers lefties like Senator Elizabeth Warren as well as the party base at a time Dems need every vote. If the White House doesn\u2019t fill the vacancy by summer recess, the FCC will remain deadlocked 2-2 between GOP commissioners and Dems. A possible GOP-majority Senate next year would mean that the open seat might not be filled for the remainder of Biden\u2019s term.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all more proof that Team Biden doesn\u2019t have a clue on how to run things, whether it\u2019s the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, failing to see looming and dangerous (non-transitory) inflation, or a simple regulatory appointment.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
